Homebrew Altmer (TAG) Species Details

The Altmer (“Cultured People”), also known as High Elves, are a tall, golden-skinned race, hailing from Summerset Isle. They consider themselves to be the most civilised culture of Tamriel; the common tongue of the continent is based on Altmer speech and writing, and most of the Empire’s arts, crafts, laws, and sciences are derived from Altmer traditions. They usually have golden, green, or amber eyes, and skin ranging in colour from brown to white, often in shades of gold.

Altmer (TAG) Traits

The Altmer are the most strongly gifted in the arcane arts of all the races. They are among the longest living and most intelligent races of Tamriel, and they often become powerful mages due to both their magical affinity and the many years they may devote to their studies.

Alignment

Altmer society is based on strong tradition and has a rigid hierarchy of classes. Most Altmer will be lawful, but those from lower castes may turn away from tradition to seek their fortune.

Size

Altmer are generally at least 5 1/2 and very often over 6 feet tall, and have light frames, weighing 120 pounds on average. Your size is Medium.

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Age.

Altmer reach maturity by age 20 and may live for 200 to 300 years on average, though some are even more long-lived.

Elven Weapon Training

You are proficient with longswords, shortswords, longbows, and shortbows.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Tamrielic and Altmeris.

Magical Affinity

Altmer have a greater understanding of magic than others. You have proficiency in the Arcana skill. You know one additional wizard cantrip. At 3rd level, you learn one additional 1st level wizard spell and you may cast it at 1st level without expending a spell slot. At 5th level, you learn one additional 2nd level wizard spell and you may cast it at 2nd level without expending a spell slot. Once you have cast a spell using this trait, you must finish a long rest to cast that spell again with this trait. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Natural Resilience

You have advantage on saving throws against poison and disease, and you are resistant to poison damage.

Ability Score Increase

Your Intelligence score increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1.
