Tribe and Kin

Akephaloi tribal connections are strong. Almost unbreakable. They understand that they are alone in the world and any allies they make are family. Inversely, to cross an Akephaloi's trust is to condemn one's self to death. An Akephaloi is expected to know his craft well to serve the tribe to his greatest ability. This goal can be consuming, and in may cases it is the driving force for the existence of the individual. Hearth and home is what matters most.

The Unseen Warriors

The Akephaloi are fearsome in combat. Known to favour guerilla tactics to strike fear into the hearts of trespassers and supposed invaders on their territory. Towering over their opponents and swinging with passion and strength, not much is left of the unwary. A strong warrior caste system in some tribes breed young men for war. Training from a young age, many rites of ascension and acts of collective bravery define Akephaloi warrior tradition.

The Unseen Community

Meticulous study of their craft or profession is an important past-time for Akephaloi. It is their function. It is what they were born to do. To apply a craft for the benefit of their family and their tribe is a passion. It has been noted that said crafts are simplistic, very Iron Age practices that require time and labour of love. In spite of poor metallurgic knowledge, The crude bronze and copper equipment and weaponry they possess are finely shaped with intricate carving and ornamenting. Many of these symbols are beleived to be runic blessings to ensure the longevity of the tool or anything thats made. The ceremonies are short and specific, but almost everything an Akephaloi creates is blessed.

The Unseen Shamans

The Monopolytheistic Akephaloi rever their god Ugharm in all things. In the form of crude magical runes, frequent prayer and the blessing of other individuals with his name. Ugharm (oog-arm), is the creator of the Akephaloi, beleived to be rejected from desert human pantheon. In effect he created his own people in his image, with intention to nurter them. He loves his subjects, encouraging incredible lengths of individual achievement in all things. These things are not to be done at he expense of othersor with intent to defy his name. It is because of Ugharm, that the Akephaloi strive to work hard in all walk of life. Upon death the Akephaloi belive their souls are taken to Ugharm himself to have their sould blessed before being returned as a member of their mortal bloodline. If the achievements of the tribesman were outstanding, like a powerful chieftan or a legendary warrior, the soul is allowed a place in the Gardens of Ghran. This is a place free of mortabl labour and eternal celebration with their diety.

The Akephaloi rever Ugham in all things. Even the most menial of tasks.

Akephaloi reach physical maturity abou the same time as humans, but may live to an age under that of humans due to constant personal strain.

Alignment

Akephaloi rarely strive away from their well oiled home machinations. They tend towards Lawful dispositions, depending on the tibe which may lash out at others for resources. Its not uncommon for peaceful or even caring Akephaloi tribes to exist. You don't find Chaotic Akephaloi

Size

Akephaloi tend to be taller than Humans, ranging from 6 to 7ft in height usually, however do go over.

Weight = Base Weight ( 180lbs ) x 2d6 lbs

Your size counts as Large due to your immaculate physique. Long days of training or hard work have paid off as you pecorals gleam in the desert sun.

Languages

You can speak, read and write Common and Akephaloi. Akephaloi is characterised by finite detailing or a verb or noun with as many adjectives or adverbs as they can. This may translate into common as... "The grey, hairy old goat." Or "The long, curly, loud river." Though there is no written lnguge for Akephaloi, you can understand the various runes they have and their meanings.

Blemmyes

The Unseen War

The Blemmyes( Ble-me-yeys) are an offshoot of Akephaloi who have greater emphasis on warfare. These are the people who built the reputation of Akephaloi combat. Many other tribes are a farcry form their skill and proficiency.  Commonly Adorning their oval shields with painted faces and their weapons with the skins of animals they had slain in their Rites of Ascension, they are at home in combat. Many members of the Blemmyes tatoo runic sleeves onto their arms legs and "face", creating a great variation in patterns and colours among warriors. These runes are anything from a curse towards their foe to a prayer of protection. At their heart, they are honorable strong willed individuals who struggle with the what it actually means to "give up."

Epiphagi

The Epiphagi (ep-if-ah-gee) are and industrious variant of the Akephaloi. Skilled in their trades, they can be some of the finest professionals one can find in their fortes. Dedicating much of their lives to the craft. They are peaceful and generous but thanks to their cousins the Blemmyes, nobody knows much of that detail and steer clear of all Akephaloi. Physically they are different, having their eyes on the front of their shoulders in-stead of their necks, but such differences help with observing the detail in their respective crafts. Vocationally, many Epiphagi are farmers, hunters, metal smiths and shamans to name a few. Community is the most important thing to these Akephaloi. Companionship and compassion are important traits that they convey to one another. They take great pride in this quality and make great efforts to reflect that in dialogue.
