Homebrew Vampiric Species Details
On the outskirts of a rural city perched on a hillside, a cloaked figure watches as a middle aged man staggers out of the local Tavern. The drunk slowly makes his way along the road en route to his home. As the cloaked figure follows the man with sorrowful eyes, Ivory canines begin to protrude past the bottom lip while saliva slowly drips down a pale chin. The next morning, a little girl wakes up to her Mothers shrieks filling the house following urgent rapping on the door.
“Don’t underestimate the allure of Darkness. Even the purest hearts are drawn to it.”
— Niklaus Mikaelson
No one knows who the first Vampire was, or how they came to be. Some say a curse was laid on one who dabbled with the consumption of human blood. Others say an old god escaped the underworld to prey on humans for sport. Regardless, nearly every society eventually comes across this beast in one form or another. Over the centuries, Vampires have gotten more tactical and clever in their disguises, even thriving for decades in a single location without raising much suspicion. Even more so, some have found ways to mitigate the more obvious symptoms of vampirism through medical or magical means, sacrificing power for subtlety. These complex creatures are considered "Vampiric", a twilight between the mortal and immortal; between man and monster.
Living in Unlife.
Much like a full-breed vampire, the Vampiric more often than not look very similar to whatever they looked like when they transitioned, and can therefore appear as any humanoid breed or race. They often tout a pale, gaunt complexion and eyes with undertones of red, yellow, or silver. Another trait they share with their Vampire counterparts is the ritual drinking of blood, although a Vampiric's need and preference is much looser, often going months without reaching a state of starvation. When feeding, a Vampiric is aided by retractable fangs above the incisors, which are typically hidden from view unless the Vampiric chooses to reveal them.

Your Charisma increases by 2, and your Dexterity or Strength increases by 1.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common, and one extra language of your choice. The Vampiric often need to adapt their language and manner of speaking depending on the society they are blending in with, or to charm the locals into looking the other way when they perform dubious actions.
Age
Vampiric age at a rate 2x slower than their race of origin.
Alignment
Vampiric come from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs, though most tend to be Lawful in nature.
Size
A Vampiric's size is based on the non-Vampiric aspect of its race, and can therefore range from a small to large humanoid.
Walking Speed
With your enhanced reflexes, your base walking speed is 40 ft.
Sunlight Sensitivity
You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.
Darkvision
Your darkvision has a radius of 60 feet.
Vicious Fangs
As a Vampiric, you can use your retractable fangs as a powerful melee attack during battle. As an action on your turn, make a melee attack against a target within range, adding your proficiency and STR or DEX modifier (whichever is higher). On a hit, the target takes piercing damage equal to 2d6 + STR bonus modifier. If the target is grappled or incapacitated, the attack is an automatic critical hit.
When you use this feature, if the target is a living creature, you may choose to drink the target's blood. Doing this regains hit points equal to half of the damage taken (rounded up), and satisfies any craving for blood you may have. If you choose to use this feature, you cannot use reactions until the end of your next turn.
Compulsion
Vampires have a unique talent for making convincing arguments, some would say magically so. Once per day as an action, you may use the Charm Person spell at 1st level without using a spell slot. CHA is the spell-casting modifier for this spell.
Bloodlust
As a Vampiric, it is important to drink the blood of a living creature at least once every week, and at least a pint at a time. Neglecting to do so will result in a reduction of 10HP to your hit point maximum for every 7 days gone without blood, to a minimum of 1HP. In addition, every 30 days fasting will result in 1 point of exhaustion. Upon drinking, your hit point maximum immediately returns to normal, and one point of exhaustion may be removed every subsequent long rest.
In addition, the longer you maintain a blood fast, the harder it becomes to resist temptation. Natural instinct will gradually compel you to attack living creatures around you until you are satisfied, or until you perish.
Shapechange
You can use your action to Wildshape into a Bat for 1 hour. While in this form, you can't speak or cast spells, your walking speed is 5 feet, and you have a flying speed of 30 feet. Your statistics match that of a Bat, apart from your alignment, personality, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores, which remain the same. Anything equipped to you transforms with you, but anything that is held drops to the floor. You revert to your true form early if your hit points reach zero, or if you choose to revert as a bonus action. You regain the ability to use this feature after a long rest.
