Homebrew Awoken Zombie Species Details

Zombies are mindlessness creatures that are raised from the dead with evil magics to serve their masters. In this case you were either given free will, got your free will from losing your master severing your bond, or maybe some other weird or wacky reasoning. Your undead form grants you great strength, and endurance as your original purpose was to be a ceaseless hunter of flesh. However, due to decaying nature of your faculties, your mental awareness has somewhat deteriorated (literally). With a new lease on life the world is your oyster, or what ever meat you can find to sate your ever present unending hunger. 

Awoken Zombie Traits

Your stinky zombieness gives you the following racial traits

Ability score increase

Your Constitutions score increases by 2, your Strength score increases by 1, and your Intelligence score decreases by 2. 

Age

Zombies can be any age. Even though their dark magic slows their decay the older they get the worse they tend to look. 

Alignment

With your new lease on life your alignment can be anything. However, its usually similar to the people you meet after your awakening because of your natural inclination to follow. 

Size

A zombies size is dependent on what race they were in their previous life. To determent your size, look at your original race's size. 

Speed

Zombies are slow due to their decaying mussels. Your speed is 25ft. 

Horrifying Visage

Because of your rotten appearance, social situation are tricky because most people are either scared or disgusted by you. You have advantage on intimidation checks, and disadvantage on persuasion checks. 

Relentless Endurance

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Bite

Your Strong jaw is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Mysterious Past

Once a zombie is awoken they have little to no memory of their past life. However it is common for zombies to discover latent abilities within themselves that can help paint a picture of who they may have been in a past life. Select one skill to be proficient in.
