Homebrew Twisted Amalgam Species Details

These wretches are cautionary tales for lesser demons as to what happens to those in the ranks that become too powerful to let live yet too useful to kill off.

Body parts and organs harvested from impaled angels in the Wailing Fields of Limbo and imbued with a demonic intellect the Twisted Amalgam is a horrific mix of angel and demon.  A gross caricature of the human form: distended and crooked the Twisted Amalgam was created in the 666th demonic civil war as specialized demon hunter.

Angelic Components

True Angels are creatures of Fire and Air, bestowed with incredible power to fulfill the universe balancing tasks they were created for.  The demonic wars, however, forced these creatures to take physical forms, dampening their powers and making them vulnerable.  Despite this degradation their core remains pure and light which flows through every aspect and every part.  This latent holiness of angelic parts is the Amalgams greatest power against demons.  Angels captured while in mortal form are kept alive as their internal organs are harvested and placed into the exoskeleton.  Limbo is in-between and within all realms and maintains the connection between host and Amalgam, the angels holy power flowing in to this twisted machine.  Different body parts and organs grant different abilities for the Amalgum.  An eye, a lung, a wing and part of the liver are harvested along with some large bones to generate blood.  It is rumored partial brain transplants have been successfully done, but led to unpredictable and often disastrous outcomes as the angelic mind seems able to resist the controlling gem.

Demonic Intellect

 It's unsure if being turned into a Twisted Amagam is truly a promotion.  Demon Lords place their most powerful warriors, assassins, and puppet masters into the Amalgams.  It just so happens those chosen are also the Demon Lords likeliest challenger.  The intellect retains its full personality, knowledge, psychic powers (if any) and controls the body as if it were its own, along with a set of new abilities tied to the Angelic components

Marionette Body

AKA: "The Prison".  Those demonic essences within the Amalgam are compelled and constrained to do the bidding of their Demon Lord.  Via a psychically attuned controlling gem, the body can be moved or stopped at the Demon Lords whim.  It is all but impossible for the Amalgam to actively turn on its master; so those that have did so with a mastery of terrifying subtlety.

Amalgam Names

Rarely is does the Amalgam retain its original demonic name, instead referred to by function; a further barb to the essence contained within.

Names: Assassin, Bodyguard, Spy, Butcher

Nicknames: Fool, Upstart, Slave, Wretch

Twisted Amalgam Traits

Twisted Amalgams share a number of traits in common with each other.

Angelic Wing

[3rd] Once per long rest as an action, you can transform, gaining glimmering eyes and two incorporeal wings. For 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action, you have a flying speed (30 ft.)

Angelic Blood

Once per short rest as a bonus action, cause holy imbued blood to flow to your extremities into custom purposed claws and talons.  The blood acts as a highly corrosive and poisonous substance to demonically imbued creatures and objects.  Creatures struck with the blood must roll a CON save DC 15 or suffer poison damage, half the amount if they save.  The damage affects even those demonic creatures considered immune to poison.  The poison causes all attacks to be at disadvantage.  Lasts for 1 minute

Once per long rest you can cast True Seeing

Angelic Lung

You are resistant to magical and non-magical airborne toxins

Marionette Body

The constructed and unnatural form of the Amalgam provides certain benefits

Ability Score Changes

Your Dexterity score increases by 1, your Strength score increased by 1, your Constitution score increases by 1, your Charisma is reduced by 1.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Demonic.

Age

Physiologically immortal, they live until destroyed.  If the Angelic host is killed the harvested organs begin to slowly die over 2D4 weeks, once dead the Amalgam no longer has access to the powers granted by the organs and body parts

Alignment

You're an angry imprisoned demon.  'Nuff said

Size

Amalgams range between 4 and 8 feet tall and weigh between 90 and 340 pounds. Your size can be Small, Medium or Large.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
