Homebrew Anka Species Details
Alongside bodies of water, such as the lakes, swamps, rivers, or the sea itself, are the Ankor. Singularly known as Anka, the Ankor are a people of duck-like humanoids. Feisty yet introspective, the Ankor are fully aware of their comical appearance and have a burning desire to be taken seriously. While ‘Ankor’ is a common name for their people, they are called by many other names, such as ‘Duckkin’ by detractors and allies alike, ‘wingless-Aarakocra’ by the uninformed, and mysteriously, ‘Durulz’. Most Ankor are tolerant to these alternate names, though a few may take offense.
No one knows where the Ankor originate from, not even the Ankor themselves. Were once mere ducks that grew and lost their wings? Were they humans that cursed with duck-like bodies? Did they arrive from the elemental plane of water, or were they always protectors of the marshes? Not helping matters is how widespread the Ankor are, as they are found in settlements and tribes alike.
