Homebrew Steampunk Skeleton Species Details
Steampunk Skeleton is completely comprised of metal and gears that can be manifested into many given situations.
The Steampunk Skeletons originate from Dr. Altan Phoenix, a crazy mad scientist obsessed with the concept of making a perfect immortal creature. He began constructing and fiddling with magic in order to imbue eternal life within a construct of his own design. As his life progressed however, he quickly found that he was dying himself due to being exposed to a chemical that began to age him rapidly. Within a month, he had aged from his 20's to his 80's, realizing that he would die quickly if he didn't finish his research. In a last stitch effort to save both himself and his research, he enlisted the help of a demon. Forming a contract that would give him the ability to enfuse the souls of others as well as himself into the metal constructs that he had designed, he relinquished half of his own being for the demon to live within. This made it so he, as well as all other poor souls soon to expire that seeked his assistance, would forever be living as manipulable, metal creatures.
Steampunk Skeletons look as a skeleton like golem would, filled with metal gears as well as the bones they live within. They have the capability to alter the gears within themselves so long as they have the materials within themselves in order to construct the design they wish to accomplish.
Steampunk Skeleton Traits
Deadweight: When within water, a Steampunk Skeleton cannot swim. They sink to the bottom of the ocean and are now in difficult terrain and move at half walking speedShapeshifting
The Steampunk Skeleton uses the gears within itself as well as other metal pieces around them in order to shape them into one of the following forms. Shifting from one form to the other takes one action and lasts until the user shifts out of said form.
Ascending Manipulation: This gives the user the appearance of a vulture by manipulating their parts in order to replicate the look of one in mechanical form. This gives them a flight speed of 30
Clockwork Propulsion: Legs shift to look similar to bionic boots that propel the user forward to double the original walking speed
Defensive Manipulation: The arms and legs of the creature become shields protecting the creature on all sides and adding 2d8 to their armor class until they transform out of this form
Weaponry Adaptation
The Steampunk Skeleton can form any weapon they have the parts for that are within a 5ft by 5ft cubic square by beating a constitution throw higher than 15 on a d20. This attempt expends 1 action.
Speak with Dead
Due to being spirits infused in constructs, they can speak to other spirits. They inherently know the spell "Speak with Dead" and do not have to expend a spell slot in order to enact it. The spell also does not have a duration time and is always in effect once casted for the first time.
Metallic Strength
Due to being made of mostly metal it is a bit more difficult to kill them, giving them a +2 Constitution modifier
