Homebrew Celestial Species Details

Celestials are powerful beings from the upper planes. Other races, such as Aasimar, are part celestial, but true celestials are very rare.

Celestials can vary drastically, but they all share one trait: a pair of angelic wings.

This article is a part of the Amathair's Guide to the Upper Planes homebrew sourcebook.

Celestial Traits

Each individual Celestial has its own traits. However, a few traits are shared by all celestials.

Ability Score Increase

Your WIS increases by 2.

Alignment

Celestials are almost always good.

Age

True celestials are immortal. As a celestial, you do not age, although you can be killed by other means. After a lifetime on the material plane, you are promoted. Once your celestial character dies, they come back to life after 1d10 days in your promoted form. Below is the table of promotions:

Benevolent Soul->Archon

Archon->Deva

Deva->Planetar

Planetar->Solar

Solar->Exarch

Promotion

If you choose the celestial race, you must begin as either a Benevolent Soul or Archon. The only way to gain a different subrace is by promotion, as described in the Age section. Subrace traits are not cumulative and are replaced upon promotion.
