Homebrew Zepani Species Details

Half Angel, Half Demon. 

The Zepani's appearance is very much that of a mixture between Aasimar and Tiefling. Their horns are much more like antlers that grow along the side of their head then branching up and out into full antlers. Although they have non normal skin tones (blue, red, green) these skin tones tend to be very pastel and un saturated with the most common tone being a light blue. The Zepani have no tail unlike Tiefling and their ears are smaller like a Human. When focusing or casting magic a half halo can form across the front of their heads usually along their antlers and their antlers will glow or sparkle. Although the Zepani don't have their full wings and they are not physical a single wing can form in the same light as their halos although they cannot provide flight.

The Story of Creation

 The creation of the Zepani roots back to when the world was first created and populated with life. In the beginning the Celestials and Infernal were unsatisfied with the world and wanted to populate it so each side created life in their own image, these first two races were the Aasimar and Tiefling. The Aasimar and Tiefling, due to their differences, fought wars against each other for many years which mostly ended in stalemates. After a long period of these wars many became dissatisfied with the way they were living "what was the point of these wars?" "why are we fighting in the first place?" many thought. Slowly more and more Tiefling and Aasimar left to spread out in the world deciding that they were put onto this world to make it their own and fighting each other got in the way of that. Eventually the wars stopped and the two races were spread out across the world and over the course of many years evolved into many of the other races there are now. Although they did not evolve into all of the races, a good few races that we have today are descendants from these early Aasimar and Tiefling. One of the first groups to leave the wars were some Aasimar and Tieflings that fled north to the arctic tundra. When both sides found each other they quickly realized they were all running from the same thing for the same reasons. The two races joined together into one civilization and over the years became one entirely new race, the Zepani.

Zepani Culture

Zepani are few and far between outside of the northern tundra's where most live in secluded societies. The story of their creation still heavily effects their culture today, just as their roots and creation was centered around neutrality and peace many Zepani civilizations live as monks and dislike war and conflict.

Zepani have an interesting combination of Aasimar and Tiefling based racial traits.

Your Wisdom score increases by 2 and increase either Dexterity or Intelligence by 1

Age

Zepani mature at the same rate as humans but can live to be about 130.

Alignment

Most Zepani lean towards Neutral and Neutral Good alignments.

Size

Zepani are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvison

With your spiritual heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Deific Herritage

The power of your ancestors still gives you power and strength. Starting at 3rd level, as an action you can sprout a wing on your back made out of a white sparkling energy. This single wing is a very large wing that takes up your entire back that although can't maintain flight can shield you from any fall damage if you're not stunned. 

This transformations lasts for 1 minute or you can end as a bonus action. During it you can cast the Gust spell as a bonus action and with no cost, when you do this you do it with your wing rather than like a spell. When you cast these gusts you can also use them to lift you off ground, your long jump distance is doubled as well as your high jump distance. Also well in this form you can deal extra cold damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. This extra cold damage is equal to your level.

Once you use this feature you can not use it again until you finish a long rest.
