Homebrew Basajaun Species Details

Basajaunak are huge humanoids, 9 to 10 feet tall, furred all over, sporting a beard and long hair, sometimes reaching their feet. The Basajaun female counterpart is called the Basandere, and is also hairy, but lacks the beard.

Basajaunak are usually shepherds, often seen taking care of huge flocks of sheep, whistling and shouting to warn other shepherds of incoming storms or wolf packs, expecting a piece of bread in return, which would be collected while they slept.

Basajaunak make use of their strength to build megaliths, dolmens and cromlechs, and know agriculture, music, ironworking, carpentry, architecture and similar technologies.

As humanoids related to the fey, Basajaunak have long lifespans. A Basajaun reaches adulthood around 30, and the oldest of them can live for 500 years.

As people who follow the rhythm of nature and see themselves as its caretakers, Basajaunak are typically neutral good. Evil Basajaunak are rare and are usually the sworn enemies of the rest of their kind.
