Homebrew Bone Golem Species Details

A shambling warrior walks through the battlefield, the legs and hooves of a minotaur allowing it to charge into the front lines, while it's monstrous claws akin to that of a leonins slice through it's enemies and it's snake like tail lashes back and forth biting any who dare approach from behind.

Bone Golems are the work of a very strange and volatile form of necromancy, taking the parts and pieces of all manners of creatures to create one unholy god-forsaken monstrosity. Sometimes produced by amateurs dabbling in the arts, as well as master necromancers looking to create a being capable of completing specific task, they truly are an enigma in the world of necromancy.

Bone Golem Traits

Your hybrid skeleton has features based on it's unique amalgamation of parts.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and one other ability score of your choice increase by 1.

Age

Bone Golems have a short life expectancy due to their expendableness, but in theory it would take hundreds of years for one to deteriorate to the point of being unable to function.

Alignment

Bone Golems usually follow the orders of their master, causing them to lean towards a lawful nature. However, Bone Golems without a master are usually inclined towards evil.

Size

Bone Golems have a very wide variety of heights, ranging from 5 to 8 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

No matter your parts, all undead fueled by necromancy can see in the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Undead Nature

Your typing is undead and you do not need to eat, drink, or breathe.

Head Piece

Chose what head your bone golem has from one of the options below:

Bestial Skull: Your skull has either horns or teeth that are natural melee weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Humanoid Skull: You gain an additional plus 1 to an ability score different from your other two ability score increases.
Monstrous Skull: You gain proficiency with the intimidation skill, and you double your proficiency bonus for checks made with this skill.

Body

Choose what type of body your bone golem has from the options below:

Bodily Offense: Your body has some form of offensive capability, be it a tail or serrated claws. You gain natural weapons with the finesse property, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Bodily Defense: Your body has some form of protection, varying from natural hardness to scraps of hide left on your skeletal form. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Constitution modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield’s benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.
Bodily Mobility: Your body has been granted the gift of skeletal wings. These wings are fueled by necromancy magic and allow for flight. This magic can not be dispelled, however it does cease to function in areas that nullify magic. You gain a flight speed of 20 feet.

Legs

Choose what type of legs your bone golem has from the options below:

Bestial Legs: You have the legs of some form of animal, giving you a boost to your speed. Your walking speed increases to 35.
Humanoid Legs: You have humanoid legs that allow you move silently compared to some of your other hybrid skeleton kin. You gain proficiency in the stealth skill.
Monstrous Legs: You have monstrous legs that are perfect for climbing. You gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, and one extra language of your choice.
