Homebrew Dhamphyr Species Details

Dhamphyr resemble humans, though with more drawn, angular features and a grayish pallor. They possess the normal human range of skin and hair colors, builds, etc., though their eyes are always of deep crimson, bordering on black. Like their undead forebears, they also possess long incisors. Normally, these teeth remain retracted into a dhamphyr's upper jaw. However, when the dhamphyr is under stress (such as in battle) or overtaken with hunger or passion, the incisors extend up to two inches. At such times, it is also common for a dhamphyr's crimson irises to "kindle," literally glowing with emberlike intensity.

Dhamphyr are a secretive lot, often afraid of being mistaken for vampires, and go to great lengths to blend in with human society. This is not always an easy task, however, due to their particular needs and limitations.

A dhamphyr who is reduced to 0 CON does not die, but does fall unconscious and remain in a coma-like state of torpor until given at least a liter fresh blood. A revived dhamphyr regains lost CON at the rate of 1d2 points per day of sufficient nourishment.
