Homebrew Storm Genasi Species Details
Storm genasi are the boisterous cousins of the more common air genasi. Some believe they are born of the union of humans and beings from the Elemental Plane of Air. Others say storm genasi are made by a surge of elemental power, such as an eruption from the Inner Planes or a planar convergence.
Touched by the Plane of Chaos, their lives are infused with unpredictability. Their moods can shift from calm to wild and violent with little warning, but these storms rarely last long.
Due to the antagonism of elemental forces (earth, air, fire and water), they rarely go underground, and prefer the outdoors. They also avoid fire and and water, especially in magical form. When wielding magic, the elements of fire and water (such as acid) will be chaotically transformed, expressed through them as either thunder or lightning.
Storm genasi typically have pale or light blue skin, white hair, and white or gray eyes. An erratic breeze accompanies them, tousling the hair and stirring the clothing. On the rare occasion when they make physical contact with a material creature, they involuntarily deliver a harmless shock of static electricity. Some storm genasi speak with breathy voices, marked by a faint echo. Others speak rapidly and sharply, or exhibit unusual vocal tics. A few display odd electrical patterns in their flesh.
Although other types of genasi often live as outcasts, storm genasi love to travel. They are adept at learning new languages and foreign customs. Restless and impatient, they are eager for variety and novelty, rarely lingering in one place, continually seeking new adventures and companions.
