Homebrew Butterfly Folk Species Details

Regis the halfling, the only one of his kind for hundreds of miles in any direction, locked his fingers behind his head and leaned back against the mossy blanket of the tree trunk. Regis was short, even by the standards of his diminutive race, with the fluff of his curly brown locks barely cresting the three-foot mark, but his belly was amply thickened by his love of a good meal, or several, as the opportunities presented themselves. The crooked stick that served as his fishing pole rose up above him, clenched between two of his toes, and hung out over the quiet lake, mirrored perfectly in the glassy surface of Maer Dualdon.

These folk are not found commonly, the is a race is not naturally found in the world. Butterflyfolk were first created in arcane experiments and have since popped up randomly for unknown reasons. Butterflyfolk can come in many forms depending on the enviroment and conditions of the cocoon during the pupation period. Most butterfly folk which are found in the world and often surrounded by other insects and live in natural homes.

Small and Practical

The diminutive Butterfly folk survive in a world full of larger creatures by avoiding notice or, barring that, avoiding offense. Standing about 3 feet tall, they appear relatively harmless. They are inclined to be stout, weighing between 40 and 45 pounds. Butterfly folk’ skin colour can range wildly, and their hair is just is wide-ranging in colour. They have blue or green eyes. They like to wear simple, comfortable, and practical clothes, favouring bright colours. Butterfolk also have some more insect-like body parts e.g. wings and proboscis tongue (therefore they can't eat solid foods)

Wing styles and Colours

Butterfly folk wing styles and colours can be varied. In-game rolls to decide butterfly folk wing style and colour. 1d6 for wing colour (1=green wings, 2=blue, 3=yellow/pink, 4=red/black/purple, 5=white pearlescent, 6= change colour to mood) and wing style 1d6 (1=tiny little wings, 2=long dragonfly wings, 3 or 4= medium wings, 5=swallowtail wings, 6= gaint wings).
