Homebrew Corrupted Changeling (Fixed) Species Details

When a humanoid is born, exposure to magical energy as a newborn can cause the humanoid's genetic code to mutate, transforming them into a Changeling. Rarely, when this happens, it attracts the attention of a powerful Demon Lord. This Demon Lord will extend their power to corrupt the Changeling soul, causing them to become Corrupted Changelings.

Corrupted Changeling (Fixed) Traits

Corrupted Changelings can transform into different things.

Transformation

As an action, you can use a Transformation point to transform your appearance. You can only duplicate the characteristics of a race or animal that you've seen, and you revert to your natural form if you die. You can use a bonus action to revert to your true form without using a Transformation point.

You decide what you look like, including your height, weight, facial features, the sound of your voice, coloration, hair length, sex, and any other distinguishing characteristics. You can make yourself appear as a member of another race, including changing your size, and basic shape. Your clothing and other equipment change in appearance, size, or shape to match your new form. You gain the body features of the race or animal you transform into. For instance, if you transform into an Aarakocra, you gain the wings and the talon abilities. However, if you transform into a Dragon-born, you do not gain the breath weapon or damage resistance.

When you transform into an animal, your Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores become that of the animal.

Even to the most astute observers, your ruse is usually indiscernible. If you rouse suspicion, or if a wary creature suspects something is amiss, you have advantage on any Charisma (Deception) check you make to avoid detection.

At 1st level, you get 3 Transformation points, and for each level after 1st, you get 1 extra Transformation point. You regain 1 transformation point after completing a short rest, and all after completing a long rest. If you change your appearance to a different race, but have 0 Transformation Points left, you take 1d12 necrotic damage for each level your character has.

Ability Score Increase

Your Intelligence Score increases by 2, and your Charisma Score and 1 other Ability Score of your choice increase by 1

Changeling Instincts

You gain Proficiency in the Deception and Persuasion Skills

Identity Crisis

When you use a Transformation Point to transform, roll a d20. If you get a 10 or lower, your DM can choose to change the transformation. Your DM cannot change the race or animal you were trying to turn into, but it can change the individual features, for example, the tone of voice, or the gender.

Also, if you take more than 5 damage from a single hit, roll a d20. If you get a natural 1, then you automatically use up one Transformation point without transforming.

Note: If you do not mention a feature of the race or animal you are trying to turn into, your DM has every right to decide what that feature should be.

Languages

You know Common, either Infernal or Abyssal, and one other language of your choice.

Demonic Corruption

This trait allows me to write a long backstory for my character detailing how the corruption works to be used inside of the campaigns my character is used in, and nothing Victor says or does can make me change this.
