Homebrew Dhampir Species Details

Undead Allure

Dhampirs are predominantly human in appearance and exceptionally comely by humans and even by elves. The core traits of all dhampire are its pale skin, lean frame and pronounced canines, which are strong and sharp. Beyond this, the differences between the two primary bloods are obvious. The nobleblood appear more human looking, though with pale eyes and a few with pointed ears. The feralblood resembles more like their predatory parent, with blood-red eyes, pointed ears, clawed fingers and more pronounced fangs.

Aside from the more common human-based dhampirs, there's also the Feyblood, who're born from the mortal-vampiric union, in which one of them is elven or both are half-elves. Feyblood resemble half-elves, while some can be described as even more elf-like. This is due to their ears being longer, their skin more fair and they can't grow facial hair. Another non-human dhampir is the hellblood, a dhampir born from a tielfing (mortal or vampiric) and thus inheriting infernal traits. These dhampir retain the tiefling's traits, commonly their horns and red skin, but their teeth are sharper and their red skin more washed-out in color.

Vampiric Prodigy

The birth of dhampirs are extremely rare but there's more than one way a dhampir is born. The most recognized form is through the direct union of a vampire and a human, usually a vampiric father and a mortal mother, though it's not impossible for a female vampire to mate with a mortal male. A few cases show that vampires use their charisma and powers to charm to attract mortal lovers, but its most common for a male vampire to have sex with a woman while she sleeps.

Another method for a dhampir is born is when a pregnant mother is bitten by a vampire and survives. She may not be transformed but her child will most certainly be tainted into a dhampir. Many cultures develop means to protect pregnant women from vampire attacks, such as keeping them on hallowed grounds or surrounding them in holy symbols and blessings.

The last way dhampirs are born are through direct unions with dhampirs. After a few generations, the vampiric taint will go away. There is also a ritual that transforms an unborn infant into a dhampir, but this method is almost unheard of.

Outcasts and Servants

Despite their uncanny beauty and charm, Dhampirs are rarely treated well within human or vampire culture. Those risen within mortal cultures commonly face prejudice for their vampiric heritage. Several dhampirs will work to keep their dhampir identity hidden, allowing particularly human-looking individuals to live among humans without issue. Those who refuse to hide their nature, or are simply incapable of hiding it, prefer a life away from society, most commonly in complete isolation and allowed to embrace who they really are. Dhampirs shunned from common human cultures can still find community among other misfit races, particularly with barbaroi and tielfings.

Vampires have been known to raise dhampirs within vampiric society. Within vampire culture, dhampirs are treated as special but inferior, superior to lesser undead undead and mortal thralls but below true vampires. Such dhampirs are utilized as assassins and spies, as well as consorts.

Your feeding deals necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier + 1d6 , and if your target takes damage you regain hit points equal to that amount. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier per long rest (minimum of 1).  At 10th level your Vampire senses get stronger you now deal 2d6 + your Charisma in damage and health regained.

Predatory Charm

As a bonus action, you can magically beguile the mind of a creature that you can see within 30 feet. For 1 hour, you have advantage on Charisma checks made against the target. If you or any of your allies attack or damage the target, this effect ends. When the effect ends, the target knows you effected it,  it becomes immune to this effect until the next dawn. This creature won’t necessarily attack outright, but it won’t deal with you in any way and might actively try to hinder you.
