Homebrew Bearmen Species Details

The Bearmen are a very rare species. Not dissimilar to that of a werebear, the Bearmen are fierce warriors reeking havoc anywhere they see fit.

Bearmen aren't created in a natural setting, these warrior are always awakened. Sent forth into the world from where they have been chosen to rise. Each Bearmen will have a specific goal they are told to complete such as aiding adventures, defeating evil etc etc

Still, some Bearmen aren't given task but are awakened with reason. These Bearmen normally become great warriors and are written down in the Bearmen tales and songs.

Noble and Fierce

Bearmen tend to be tall compared to humans and move with a boldness that suggests their physical might. Tawny fur covers Bearmen bodies. While their hands prove difficult compared to those of other humanoids, Bearmen have bear claws, which they attack with deadly force. This, along with their ability to produce bone-shaking roars, gives most Bearmen an air that readily shifts between regal and fearsome. Bearmen often act with purpose, which can come off as imperiousness. While this can reassure their allies, it can also suggest defiance in the face of what they perceive as imposed authority or unworthy experts.

Quick to Quarrel

Other peoples often perceive Bearmen as quick to take offense, intolerant of criticism, or belligerent. The truth is that many Bearmen simply enjoy fighting, whether verbal or physical. They take pleasure in argument, wrestling, sparring, and even battle, enjoying the opportunity to exercise their minds and bodies. It follows, too, that Bearman aren’t inclined to carry grudges. A warrior might react with sudden violence to an insult, but when the fight is over (and the Bearman's superiority proven), the insult is forgotten—along with the vanquished foe.

Bearmen Names

Most Bearmen are not given names when awakened, they earn them meaning that those they travel with will normally give them a name, be it more of a title such as "The Destroyer" or a real name like "Keith". Bearmen see name giving a huge gift and it gives them an identity.
