Homebrew Wolven Species Details

Physical Description:

            The Wolven are a race of elf-like wolves, they age and mature at the same rates.  The Wolven are tall and solidly built. This is because they are a very solid race of craftsmen and warriors, so therefore they have adapted to this environment.  The Wolven have a Wolf’s ears, wolf-like teeth, and their legs are built similar to the hind legs of a wolf.  In terms of their facial appearances they can look almost identical to elves, with the exception of a more canine nose structure, to very similar to a Werewolf’s Hybrid form.

 

History:

            Wolven hail from the realm of Thraxræl’arkhan, their homelands are the coastal region of Zalenas, and the surrounding forests, deserts, plains, and mountains.  This large territory is known as the Kingdom of Zalenstrond, the capital is a large port city of the same name.  The Wolven are ruled by a council of Warriors, Sages, Merchants, and Craftsmen, in place of Nobility.  Zalenstrond is a historically prosperous region.  The Wolven have fought many wars for this reason.  They have never lost, ever, since they are always training, and preparing in general, for war.  Their greatest asset is Zalenstrond’s oldest mercenary company, the War Wolves, a collective of Wolven, Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Half-Orcs, Orcs, and just about every race in between, that collects battle tactics from across the realm then adapts them to the Wolf Pack style of combat that makes them, and Zalenstrond’s military by extension, a major threat even in small groups.   The War Wolves are a good indicator of how accepting the Wolven are as a whole.  They have been known to take in members of any race so long as they are willing to obey the laws of the land, and integrate them into their society.  In many cases this extends to bringing them into their families as well.

Allignment:  Wolven follow a loose set of laws that allows for greater individuality, this means that they can be either Chaotic or Lawful, but the one thing that never changes is that they rarely turn evil.  It is even more exceedingly rare for a Wolven to be Neutral.

Wolven Names: Wolven names are not gender specific, though there is a trend of names that sound feminine being used for females, and more masculine sounding names being used for males.

Height and Weight: Your base height is 5’6” + 2d10

Your base weight is 170 Lbs + 2d4x the result of your height roll.

Wolven Traits

Tall and Lean, the Wolven are a hearty and Dexterous race capable with keen senses of smell and hearing.

Animal Senses

Due to your animal-like abilities you can hear and smell when things are not what they seem.  You add your proficiency modifier to any perception checks using hearing or smell.  You double your proficiency modifier if you are proficient in Perception.

Ability Score Increase

The wolven are a race with a hearty Constitution that allows them to thrive in a great variety of climates. That, combined with natural heightened Dexterity, makes them quite capable in most roles of society.

Blindsight

The Wolven are capable of locating objects, and creatures, close to then even when they cannot see.  This is thanks to the animal-like senses of hearing and smell that they have retaied from before they became a civilized race.

Languages

Wolven, being skilled craftsmen, are masters of common trade languages in their regions.  They know Common, Wolven, and either Elven or Dwarvish.
