Homebrew Wukong-kin Species Details
Nomadic and tribal guardians of the Earth, these mighty creatures are descended from a much-revered Monkey God. Extremely loyal, hard-working, inquisitive and fun-loving, the Wukong-kin make quiet, modest lives for themselves far from modern civilisations. Until, that is, they are faced with the call of honour and adventure.
Wukong-kin are a fusion of human and monkey traits. This relation is evident in their coarse fur, prehensile tails, dog-like fangs and other traits. However, their intelligence, larger size, and more bipedal posture suggest some closeness to humanity. Wukong-kin are slightly smaller than humans, but are sill medium. They usually have more defined muscles than monkeys, though they are still rather slender, keeping a very athletic appearance. Fur colors range from common black and brown to the more exotic colors such as orange or blue. White fur is usually a "sign" of inherent greatness. Wukong-kin tails will usually be between 3 to 5 feet long and are fully capable of being used as an additional limb
Wukong-kin usually live in small tribal communities they call troops. It is Rare to find large cities or entire nations of Wukong-kin though they do exist. Leadership roles are often held either by the elders or by the most personally accomplished, however, leaders generally don't have much power as many Wukong-kin prefer group decisions over the decisions of one individual. Wukong-kin don't have families In the traditional sense, most viewing all of their kin as being apart of their family. This sense of kinship is not limited to other Wukong-kin and can be extended to people of other races who they've grown to trust.
Due to their boastful and energetic nature Wukong-kin can often be mistaken for being disrespectful and troublesome by high-strung individuals. However due to their strength, honesty and loyalty, Wukong-kin found outside their normal communities, either from being banished or simply wanderlust, have an easy time adjusting to the "easy" life of cities. Most apeling adventurers tend to be more independent than their kin at home, but still hold on a lot to their sense of family and loyalty. Naturally energetic and overtly eager, spending their time standing still is against their nature.
