Homebrew Aimas Species Details
He met her eyes in the inky darkness. Her face was stern and beautiful, and a shiver ran down his spine. An Aimas. Beneath her dark hood, her face lights up in a dance of colour and shifting pattern - alight with the energy of this chance meeting. “W-wishing you good hunting”, he stutters, touching his totem with one hand. “and you” she replies, flashing a sharp-toothed grin, and slipping an arrow from her quiver.
And with that, she was gone - disappearing through a thicket of willows, and taking all warmth from the night with her.
- P. D Abernathy The Lantern
Fine featured and of tall stature and frame, one might be forgiven for thinking the Aimas as Elves - but the Aimas are descendants of ancient hunters, originating from the southern continent of Erolen.
Wearers of Emotion
Many millions of color-changing blots lie just below the surface of an Aimas’ skin- the most prominent of which are seen on the face. These blots are used in Aimas culture to convey emotion, blend into their surroundings and send signals to each other in the ultimate form of nonvocal communication. Nefarious Aimas have even been known to use their markings to intimidate or deceive others, whilst others stay true to their emotions.
Aimas’ skin coloration are often pale shades of grey, bluish-white, or lichen skin tones, have sharp canine teeth, and multi-spectral eyes.
Aimas are very expressive - even when they try not to be - but embracing their feelings and those of others is what make Aimos hardy survivors, great collaborators and excellent allies.
Empathetic by Nature
Aimas can feel a person's emotions, feelings or motives - even without looking at them - making them an excellent judge of character. Whilst others use these charismatic powers to accelerate their diplomatic standing; becoming negotiators or mediators, Others grow up to be masters of manipulation as con artists, swindlers or thieves.
It is said an Aimas feels emotions more fully than other races; sadness is overwhelming, happiness is exhilarating and an insults sting like a sore. Young Aimas can be quick to anger and volatile, whereas older generations tend to be more composed and hardy.
