Homebrew Blossom Shifter Species Details

Physical Description

A blossom shifter is of completely humanoid shape. They have soft pastel coloured skin that matches in colour to whichever flower they prefer, though their skin is not solidly that colour as they have lighter spots all over them that vaguely resemble the dapples on a horse. Their hair starts at the scalp white, and the further down it goes, the darker it gets, ending in a deep shade of their chosen colour. Their irises are almost the same shade as the bottom of their hair, give or take a few shades either way. Their bone structure is often soft and gentle, like the subtle curves of a flower.

History

Despite not actually being related to any type of flower, the blossom shifters got their name by looking like humanoid flowers and having the ability to slightly shift their appearance to even resemble other creatures, though their natural colourings usually give them away. Their initial shift is always into the colour that they are naturally, but they can then slight shift to a more natural colour for whatever species they have chosen. Despite their relatively kind nature, blossom shifters are often distrusted by those who see them shift, as they are sometimes mistaken for doppelgängers.

Society

Blossom shifter society is all about kindness and compassion toward those around you, as in all societies, there are some who differ from the norm, but you will never find anyone still living in this society who is strictly malevolent, it just doesn't happen. Blossom shifters originated in the Feywilds.

Blossom shifter given names are often names that mean peace and tranquillity, or virtuous names, though they have also been known to have flowery or nature orientated names. However, if a blossom shifter leaves their home, many have been known to take a new name to better fit into their chosen society.

Blossom Shifter Traits

A humanoid with the coloration of any arrangement of flowers. They have a very androgynous look about them and you can barely tell between the genders.

Speed

Quick and nimble, your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Ability Score Increase

Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

A blossom shifter reaches maturity at 25 before this age they are still considered children as they cannot reproduce until 25. Blossom shifters can live up to 250 years before wilting like the flowers they resemble.

Alignment

Blossom shifters are never of a evil or lawful alignment. Instead, they favour the aspects of freedom chaotic alignments grant them.

Size

You stand from 4'8" to just above 6'. Your size is Medium.

Dark Vision

You can see 60 ft in dim light as if it is bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You cannot discern between colour in darkness, only shades of grey

Extra Reaction

When attacked, as a reaction,  you can perform an acrobatics skills check, with DC being equal to the attack roll. If it is a surprise attack you do not add your dexterity modifier. If you succeed the hit misses. You must have a long rest to use this trait again.

Fey Ancestry

Advantage on saving throws against being charmed and magic cannot put you to sleep.

Nature Dweller

Having been raised with nature as such an integral part of your life, you are proficient in the Nature skill.
