Homebrew Wasem's Sprites Species Details

 Sprites were fierce defenders of good wherever they dwelt, and were also firm judges of other creatures' hearts and intentions. The term "sprite" actually had two meanings: the first meant the specific race of tiny warriors, while the second use referred to the group of tiny, insect-featured fey that the specific kind belonged to.

Tiny and Energetic

Sprites were flighty and found most other creatures too serious.

However, they also despised evil.

Because of their austerity and zealous attitude against evil, sprites were considered overly sullen and harsh by other fey. Unlike pixies, they did not care to engage in fun activities or adorn themselves. However, they were excellent judges of character, and could always sense another creature's real nature and emotions. They were quick to ally with good-natured creatures, and would come to their aid even at unexpected times

Forest Dwellings

Sprites made their homes by meadows and glades deep within thriving forests. They were omnivorous creatures who, unlike most of their kin, were mainly active during the day.[1] Sprites' villages could also be found inside the trunks of trees or treants. They allowed no trespassers, and were quick to judge the moral character of persisting invaders.

Spites and Their typical Relations

Sprites kept an eye on other small sprite-like fey, either to protect them or to know who to invite to their gatherings. They were also known to associate with druids and the occasional ranger.

Sprites were one of the many fey races known to serve the Seldarine.

Sprite Names

Sprites are usually named after natural elements, like plant names or geographical areas, and the names tend to sound cute. The last names consist of a combination of two words, most of them are also related to nature. Having said that, some names will sound darker and more mysterious, as not all fairies are cute and innocent, some are vicious, vile and evil. I've had quite a few name submissions with 'evil fairy' names, so you'll find those in here as well.

A Sprite of Female gender may have one of these names: Posy Whifflebite, Tamara Cocoawind, Diamond Prettycone, Yavia Nevercreek, Amy Hollyrock, Tinder Bumblebutton, Alexandra Flirtyflash, West Hazelbead, Laurelai Mistyfig, Faith Copperstorm

 

Sprite Backgrounds

Backgrounds that are most appropriate for Sprite include the outlander, the hermit, and the sage.

The small colonies of Sprites are insular and remote, and few Sprites live away from their Forests.

 

Wasem's Sprites Traits

As a Sprite, you have certain traits in common with your people. Being able to fly at high speed starting at 1st level is exceptionally effective in certain circumstances and exceedingly dangerous in others. As a result, playing a Sprite requires special consideration by your DM.

Fey Magic

As a sprite you Innately know the Invisibility spell and Minor illusion you can cast each of these 1 time per short rest with out expending a spell slot

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age

Sprites reach maturity by age 19. Compared to humans, Sprites don’t usually live longer than 300 years.

Alignment

Most Sprites are good and rarely choose sides when it comes to law and chaos. Tribal leaders and warriors might be lawful, while explorers and adventurers might tend toward chaotic.

Size

All sprites were Tiny creatures with elven features, ranging from the 1‑foot-tall (0‑meters) Atomie, to the 4‑foot-tall (1‑meter) Nixie. All sprites Except for the nixie, sprites have insect-like wings and can fly. Your size is Tiny.  And wiegh any where from .5 lbs to 20lbs, Nixies.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 15 feet.

Flight

You have a flying speed of 40 feet. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing heavy armor.

Fey

As a Sprite you are considered/classified as a Fey. rather than Humanoid  when determining creature type.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Sylvan, and Elvish.
