Homebrew Blink Dog Species Details
These Fey are some of the most intelligent canines in the known universe, despite their inability to speak. They have a natural connection to magic, originating from the Feywild, which allows them to teleport across short distances. Whatever magics infused them have brought to light a stern, good hearted nature like that of a soldier. Blink Dogs act as guards and foxhounds of the Feywild, but often they may be summoned or sent to other Planes.
The Despicable Displacer Beasts. Trained by the Unseelie Court, hundreds upon thousands of Blink Dogs were trained to hunt and remove Displacer Beasts from the Feywild. Oftentimes, this sentiment passes down from the previous Blink Dog generations who spent their entire lives battling the blood-thirsty monsters, instilling a sense of irrational hatred for the beasts in the next generation. Blink Dogs often act rather rationally in all situations, but their fetid hatred of Displacer Beasts will almost surely take over their senses if they get the opportunity to sink their teeth into one.
Blink Dog Adventurers. Blink Dogs rarely roam the wilds, as the Unseelie Court trains and treats them well. Often they are sent off into the wilderness to perform simple tasks, such as eliminate Displacer Beasts. Though a select few may show some higher promise than their brethren and be entrusted to more complex or private tasks for their Fey patrons. Otherwise, rare wild Blink Dogs are subject to traversing between the Feywild and the Material Plane of their own free will. They will, on occasion, be summoned to the Material Plane by a Conjuror looking to use their skills for a particular task.

Age
As with much of the Fey, Blink Dogs live incredibly long in comparison to their biological cousins on the Material Plane. Blink Dogs typically reach maturity around one year old, and live to be as old as 75.
Alignment
Blink Dogs have a sense of duty when it comes to those who are in danger, pushing them to Good alignments typically.
Size
Blink Dogs come to be about the size of an average wolf, though perhaps a bit more slender. They come to between 3 and 6 feet long and a little over 100 pounds. Your size is Medium
Speed
Blink Dogs are as nimble as the average Mastiff. Your speed is 40 feet.
Quadrupedal
You have four legs, of which you use all to move. To wield a weapon or arcane focus, it cannot be two-handed without your attacks being at disadvantage and you must carry it in your mouth, meaning you cannot engage in two weapon fighting. You cannot use ranged weapons without the “Thrown” feature and you cannot wield a Shield. Instead of typical armor, you must wear Barding which, when donned, acts the same as its equivalent in typical humanoid armor. The price and weight for barding are found in the Mounts and Vehicles section of the Players Handbook.
Fey
You are considered a Fey, which means that spells and effects that target Humanoids or other creature types do not affect you.
Natural Weapons
Your carnivore teeth and claws act as natural weapons. Whenever you make an unarmed strike against a creature, you instead deal 1d4 + Strength modifier Slashing damage for a Claw attack or Piercing damage for a bite attack. You may only make a claw attack if you have a weapon or arcane focus equipped
Wolf Speak
Through barks, howls and simple body language, you can communicate fluently with wolves, dogs and other such canines. You may only communicate vocally with canines like this and may not speak any language.
Keen Hearing and Smell
You have advantage on Perception checks involving your sense of hearing or smell.
Teleport
As a Bonus Action, you may teleport yourself and any equipment on you to an unoccupied space you can see within 40 feet of you. You must finish a short or long rest before being able to teleport in such a way again.
Languages
You can read Common and Sylvan, but you may not speak any language through non-magical means
