Homebrew Deepling Species Details

Deeplings are an amphibious humanoid race. Much like their Swampling cousins, the Deepling is tribal in nature and build their homes near bodies of water as they are good swimmers. Their skin is decorated with gemstones they find and collect in the Underdark; they have quite the eye for these precious stones. The Deepling tends to be of dark coloration, save for the gemstones they imbed in their skin. Dark browns, blues, purples, black. Their eyes have adjusted to the darkness of their deep, cavernous environments and range in colors of yellow, white, red, black, and brown with big irises. Their hair color can be all sorts of dark colors that help them blend into the dark. The Deepling has needlelike teeth and slightly webbed hands and feet that help them swim in waters.

Deeplings mature at the same rate as humans and live upwards of 200 years.

Deeplings tend to be lawful neutral but can also be other neutral alignments.

Deeplings average at 4 to 5 ft and weigh about 90 to 100 pounds. Your size is medium.

You have a walking speed of 30ft, a swim speed of 30ft, and a climb speed of 25ft.

Superior Darkvision

You have a darkvision of 120ft, and infinite darkvision underwater.

You can read, speak, and write in Common and Undercommon.

Amphibious

Deeplings can breathe both in and out of water.

An Eye for Gems

Deeplings can spend a short rest examining any number of gemstones in their possession to discern their worth.

Damage Resistance and Weakness

Deeplings have a weakness to fire damage and resistance to lighting damage.

Sunlight Sensitivity

You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.
