Homebrew Dark Fey Species Details

Dark fey are the product of a coupling between fairies and internals. They have large, feathered wings, tall, slender horns, and possess a great affinity for magic both dark and light.

Dark fey can pass through the feywild with ease, as well as the underdark, most often they become druids, bards or sorcerers. They live in colonies, and like birds their appearances differ based on their environment, they range in colors; skin, horns, hair, and feathers may be close to humans with browns, greys, or blacks, or may be bright and vibrant blues, reds, greens or yellows. Dark fey are in tune with nature and magic, rarely traveling to large cities with cobblestone streets, opting to remain in less urban regions of the worlds.

Dark fey primarily use flight to travel long distances, they have a flight speed of 40 per movement, they are slightly encumbered by their massive wings and so have a slower walking speed. Dark fey have dark vision, and have a +5 modifier to their Charisma score.

You know the thaumaturgy cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the hellish rebuke spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the darkness spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Fey ancestry

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You gain a +5 to your Charisma score, and gain the spell farie fire at level 2.

Winged flight

You have an initial flying speed of 30 feet. Your walking speed is encumbered and is 20 feet.
