Homebrew Dhampir Species Details
Leonard Muller moved with an unnatural grace as I observed him. His movements were akin to a cat's, sleek and graceful. It was astonishing to see a human frame move in such a manner. He fairly pounced on one of our returning companions. After chatting for a bit, he returned to allow me to observe him. Leonard was a dhampir, a halfbreed of a human and a vampire. Lore was scarce on them for numerous reasons, most of them superstitions hastily founded on their lineage alone. While I have learned that dhampirs do possess some vampiristic traits, they are still human and they often choose their own way through life. I am glad Leonard chose this path. I hope to use this knowledge to help those like him.
-Excerpt from the journal of Loremaster Triveal
Dhampirs are the spawn of a human and a vampire. They possess a mixture of the dark and strange powers of their vampire parent and the spirit of their human parent. They often feel that they don't truly belong in either world and struggle for at least a portion of their with what they are. They are treated in a manner similar to how most treat tieflings.
A Broad Spectrum
Dhampirs are very much like humans. They can vary greatly in their size and appearance. Although, they tend to be a little leaner and more lithe than most humans. They also tend to be paler and fairer than their human parents. Their features are a very attractive blend of their parents' features.
Variety in Most Things
Dhampirs share their human parent's varying tendencies. Dhampirs can vary greatly from each other as much as humans can. However, they can be said to be less ambitious. Their vampiric heritage grants them an extended lifespan and they take a good portion of it just dealing with their heritage and identity. This can lead to a very solitary existence, or an existence with a clear set goal that centuries are spent on.
Dhampir Names and Ethnicities
Dhampi names tend to be those of humans. They can be tied to family line, a cultural trend, or something else all together. If a dhampir was named after their vampire parent, they may decide to change their name to distance themselves from that parent and the stigma of them.
Dhampir Traits
Dhampirs possess none of the weaknesses of their vampiric parent, but that come at the cost of the strengths of said parent to be weaker in them.Vampiric Hemocraft
Thanks to your vampiric heritage, you can use a small amount of blood magic in a number of ways.
Drink: While you are below half health, you can use a bonus action to draw the blood from a wounded enemy into yourself to heal. If you do so, you roll 1d6 to determine the amount you heal by and the amount the enemy is wounded by. You can do this a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier. Once those are up, you must take a long rest to regain them.
Scent: You can use your magic to enhance your senses in order to track a wounded creature of any type, provided it has blood. This gives you advantage on Survival and Investigation checks made to find the creature you are tracking. This feature lasts for an hour when used. You can use it a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier.
Charm: You know the Charm Person spell.
