Homebrew Sylveon Species Details

"Sylveon, the Intertwining Pokémon. Sylveon affectionately wraps its ribbon-like feelers around its friends' arms as they walk together."

— The national Pokédex

Sylveons are mammalian Pokémon covered with pale cream-colored fur with pink feet, ears, and tail. They usually have light blue eyes, long ears with blue interiors and thicker fur, a tiny nose, and two stray tufts of fur on top of its head. There are two bows on its body: one at the base of its left ear and one on its neck. Each bow is pale cream with a pink center and trails a pair of ribbon-like feelers. The feelers are pale cream with light blue tips. Before the tip of each feeler is a pink and then a dark blue stripe. It has slender legs with small, three-toed paws and a fluffy, slightly curved tail.

A Sylveon's ribbon-like feelers emit a soothing aura. Additionally, wrapping its feelers around another living creature will allow it to read their feelings.

They evolve from Eevees who have been given a great deal of affection, and who also have harnessed a degree of Fey magic.

Fey and Whimsical

Sylveons possess undeniable traits of whimsy and oddness, and fit right in with other fey creatures. Unlike most fey, however, they are also quite capable of fitting in with other common folk as well, and can be a welcome addition to a society. They are likely to be especially well-received amongst Elven populations where their fey nature can be better understood and accounted for.

Devious and Cunning

Some Sylveons have a rather devious streak, and may display darker or bloodthirsty tendencies. Those that do are often a terrifying sight to behold as they brandish a knife or sharp object with their ribbons. Whilst this certainly does not apply to a majority of Sylveons, it is nonetheless a trait to watch out for among them.

Slayers of Dragons

Sylveons possess a natural aptitude for resisting the breath weapons of dragons, and as such, Sylveons who practice adventuring and encounter a young dragon more often than not manage to slay or drive back such creatures. Those that do gain all the fame and recognition that such an act would demand.

Sylveon Traits

A Sylveon possesses many traits derived from their fae nature.

Ability Score Increase

Your dexterity score increases by 1.

Age

Sylveons age slower than most Eevees, the magic coursing through them keeping their appearance young through their whole lives. They can last for as much as a century and a half.

Alignment

Sylveons, much like elves, love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. The positivity that fuels their being can make them also lean toward good... or it can instead serve as the perfect cover for their darker tendencies.

Size

Sylveons tend to generally stand between 4 and 5 feet tall, and weigh around 52 pounds on average. Your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Fey Being

As a being infused with faerie magic, you automatically possess An enhanced form of the fey-touched feat as outlined here:

Your exposure to the Feywild or one of its denizens has left a magical mark on you. You gain the following benefits:

  • Increase your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score by 2, to a maximum of 20.
  • You learn the misty step spell and one 1st-level spell of your choice. The 1st-level spell must be from the divination or enchantment school of magic. You can cast each of these spells without expending a spell slot. Once you cast either of these spells in this way, you can’t cast that spell in this way again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast these spells using spell slots you have of the appropriate level. The spells’ spellcasting ability is the ability increased by this feat.

Fey physiology

As a Fey being, a number of traits apply to you:

  • You possess the Fey creature type as well as the Humanoid creature type.
  • You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
  • When you're hit by a nonmagical weapon made of metal, your body reacts as if in the presence of an acid, and you take an additional 1d4 acid damage.
  • Toxins are very deadly to you and you are vulnerable to Poison damage and have disadvantage on saving throws against being poisoned.
  • The forces of darkness hold little sway over you, and you are resistant to necrotic damage

Dragonslayer

Dragons and their powers are repelled by the fey magics surging through you. You have advantage on saving throws against the breath attacks made by creatures of the dragon creature type, and furthermore take no damage at all when those saving throws succeed.

Feelers

You possess four extra limbs in the form of your ribbon-like feelers that can extend and retract up to 10 feet in length, and they may wrap around and pick up objects as a normal limb would. They cannot, however, lift an object that is more than 10 pounds. touching your ribbon to a living creature will allow you to read its emotions, but not its specific thoughts. Reading emotions in this way can only be done while you have the concentration to do so. Your feelers do not have the strength to make direct attacks, but they are able to attempt to grab and restrain if you are capable of grappling. For the purposes of being attacked yourself, your feelers count as part of your body, and any space you extend them in becomes a part of the space that you are occupying, thus making you that much more vulnerable to attack. A creature that attempts to target your ribbons in a space that your main body is not also occupying has disadvantage on attack rolls. Your DM, in certain situations, may even rule that your ribbons are severable, which would have all of the repercussions associated with losing a limb such as that. Your ribbons also function for the purposes of casting spells that require you to touch your target.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan due to the fae magic that has augmented your being. Sylveons may also enjoy speaking Elvish if they learn a third language.
