The children of the stars are a people blessed by the sun and the lights of the night sky. They blend in with society, often finding their place among the cities of their birth or wherever their adventurous spirit takes them. Star Children love discovery, invention, exploration and anything to satiate their wild curiosity. Little is known on how these beings come to exist; be it a specific alignment of the stars or the intervention of some god, these gifted individuals often find themselves born into ordinary families.

Subtle Yet Distinctive

The star-born are incredibly diverse and unique, as they can appear within any race and share the features of their origin race. They are nearly indistinguishable from the race they come from, though spending enough time around a star child and indulging in their quirks and curious nature will hint that they are not quite among the ordinary. A Star Child may not even know of their own gifts for a portion of their lives.
Often times a Star Child will be raised in their family and further social circle and adopt the culture of their near community or nation they are a part of. It is rare for a Star Child to be born to parents who are also born from the stars. In the case of only one parent being a Star Child, the baby will always be a Star Child but will take the race of the parent with dominant genes in the case of mixed-race.

Star Children often have a distinctive visual quirk that can separate them from the rest. Roll or choose from the table of quirks below.

Inquisitive and Extensive

Star Children usually live much longer than others of their origin race. Most live up to twice the length of the usual lifetime, dependant on which race they come from. This long lifespan gives star children a burning desire to make the absolute most of their existence. One star born may become a great adventurer, seeking to discover all of the world's wonders. Another may opt to become a prestigious writer and scholar, indulging in the land's deepest mysteries. Whatever the case, Star Children possess a yearning need to explore and discover - there are few who can compete with the tenacity of a Star Child's curious mind.

Star Children are of the sun and stars and do not cope well when shut in for long periods of time. This causes many to develop an extroverted outlook and they are quick to pick up friendships. However many of these friendships tend to be fleeting and if one cannot keep up with their constant need for and infatuation with new information, one will be left behind. This can make them appear arrogant and unappreciative. While this may not be the case, it is liable to turn some of these friends into enemies. Enemies that are likely to remain forgotten until encountered again.

The star born come from a variety of cultures and creeds and each one has their own unique way of approaching situations. Most frequently, a Star Child will analyse a dilemma thoroughly and assess all their options before making a decision. As a result of this they may lean towards solving an altercation with words before violence and this is assuming they could not find a way to avoid an altercation altogether. With their wide array of capabilities from their many races and their strategic genious, Star Children can still be worthy opponents.

Nomadic in Nature

Many Star Children will move away from their homes as they grow older, opting to travel and discover. One can only find so much from the comfort of their home and so learning to embrace the wider world is a common practice among them. Their genious and gifted nature make them excellent nightly navigators and many possess the skills and/or magics required to survive for long periods of time away from civilisation.

The only times a Star Child will choose to settle down is when they need to do so for research purposes or when starting a family and other such reasons.

Star Child Names

Star Children often possess the names related to their origin race. However, in the extremely rare case of a Star Child being born to two Star Child parents, they may have more unique names specific to them;

Star Child Traits

Your Star Child has a variety of special abilities, due to the blessings of the sun and night's sky.

Ability Score Increase

Your Intelligence score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Star Children are blessed with the ability to explore and discover. To help acheive this, they are gifted with a longer than average lifespan. Star Children mature at a normal rate for their race but most Star Children will live up to twice the lifetime of their original race.

Alignment

Star Children pursue knowledge and revelation. This takes utmost priority and thus, many end up in a neutral alignment. However a Star Child is not immune to indulgence in evil studies though few of them end up this way.

Size

Star Children come in all shapes and sizes depending on what origin race they stem from. You use the stats for your origin race.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Nightvision

With an affinity of the night, your eyes are accustomed to the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can see in full colour while in darkness.

Knack for Discovery

You have advantage on Intelligence(Investigation) checks and Intelligence checks to recall information.

Racial Diversity

Based on your origin race, you may have some additional traits that are distinctive of that race. For example, a Tabaxi's claws or an Aarakocra's wings. Discuss with the DM about allowing you to have these kinds of traits in addition to the other traits of the Star Child.

Descendant of Stars

Your extensive knowledge of the sky and your affinity for night make you an excellent nightly navigator. So long as you can see the stars, you always know which way is north. This effect always applies, regardless of magical interference and also works across planes of existence.

Additionally, you know the light cantrip and can cast it at will. Your spellcasting modifier for this spell is Wisdom (DC = 8 + proficiency + Wisdom modifier). The light cast glimmers and shines like a star.

Of The Light

You are a creature reliant on the guidance of the sun, moon and stars. When not in the sunlight/moonlight or when the sun, moon or stars are not in sight for a number of minutes equal to your Wisdom modifier, you gain disadvantage on Wisdom(Perception) checks and attack rolls that require sight.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one language from your origin race.
