Homebrew Three-Quarterling Species Details

Three-Quarterlings are smaller than men, but far bigger than halflings. At first glance most men think they’re just short and a bit portly men, and halflings tend to think the same unless they know better. Three-Quarterlings are usually the result of when a particularly tall halfling and a particularly short human reproduce, usually in big cities, but they are not unheard in smaller settlements.

WHERE THEY’RE COMMONLY FOUND
Three-quarterlings are found wherever you find both men and halflings, but they tend to blend in well with humans so they aren’t often noticed as anything odd. Cities like Waterdeep, Baldur’s Gate, and a number of cities in the Western Heartlands have their fair share of three-quarterlings, as do many of the cities of the North like Neverwinter and especially Silverymoon.

A number of three-quarterlings are said to work for the Mirksha and Mourngrym’s Magnificent Magical Menagerie, the circus that tours the Western Heartlands between Waterdeep, Baldur’s Gate and Elturiel.

They’re more common in the Shining South than anywhere, near Lurien, where larger numbers of humans and halflings tend to mingle.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Three-quarterlings tend to work well in human communities, and are often seen a brave and a bit lucky by their human friends, as well as rather nimble. Some halflings look at them as “big halflings” or as “kinda-big-folk”. They do tend to be slightly more skilled than the typical lethargic halfling as well, as they share some of ambition that humans often have. Like most halflings, and many men, they share a love of drink, pipeweed, and are often especially fond of dancing and singing, and quite a few bards have claimed to be a three-quarterling in the Realms. Those of stout halflings tend to stay in halfling communities more, and are looked up to as hardy warriors, as they have far more reach than the typical halfling does.
