Homebrew War soul Species Details

"We might know where they came from, but they are a great opportunity to understand our history."
- Mordenkainen

War souls are ancient spirits, left behind from a race called Tornadga which focused purely on war, combat, and strength.

They left lingering in the ancient tombs and graveyards left behind by the Tornadga, until they were awakened from their sleep. The first group of War souls had a very short life span as their essences were depleted from the thousands upon thousands year of slumber. Some War souls posessed humans, and formed relationships with their host, allowing them to strengthen their bodies, in return let the War souls keep themselves from extinction, as the human bodies acted as anchors for their spirits, keeping them in the realm of the living.

The descendants of humans posessed by war souls were distinct, since they posessed traits from the war souls. Their skin looked like space, or the starry night sky. Their hairs were translucent, and had a shimmering effect when reflecting light. They had a certain shade of colour across their body. They are capable of living like a regular human, with a few traits left from their origins.

They can be clothes, weapons, or attuned magic items. Summoning in combat takes one bonus action, but it won't be summoned if it's desired location is obstructed. These items cannot be destroyed until either the bond is broken or the owner is dead. The item which is soul-bound can be switched out during long rests.

Starting from level 3, you learn the spell Soul phantom. You can select an elemental type from Cold, Fire, Lightning/Thunder, Force, Necrotic, Radiant, Acid/Poison. You resist this elemental, and your body will gain the colour associated with it as a shade. This spell will mimic your action to damage, either as a second weapon or a copy of the spell. Each time you deal damage you can add up 1d4 of your choosen elemental damage, this acts like a 1st level spell, and can be used 5 times before long resting. This counts as a bonus action.

From level 5, you can choose an additional elemental type. Now you can add 2d4 damage, each die can be a different elemental type from the ones you choosed. This counts as a 1rst level spell, and can be used 10 times before long resting. This counts as a bonus action.
