Homebrew Whisperwing Elf Species Details

Although they are called elves, these humanoid creatures have no Fey ancestry. It is simply a misnomer- they are descended from forest dwelling humans blessed by a Nature Goddess.

 

All Whisperwings have slender pointed ears, but they come in a range of coloration as diverse as life in the forests. The few constants are this: they have insect-like wings on their back, and are often crowned with variations of horns or antlers. 

 

Once blessed, they became an integral part of the Whispering Wood and served as guardians of all that happened beneath the canopy. They are the curators of forest memory and protectors of the heart trees of the woods.

Fleet of foot and Keen of mind. You get a +2 to Dexterity and a +1 to Intelligence

Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Flightless Flutter

If you're falling or being thrown you can as a reaction stretch out your wings. This makes you fall at a rate of 60 ft per round and you take no falling damage. 

Friend of the Forest

Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with Small or smaller beasts. they love animals and often keep squirrels, badgers, rabbits, moles, woodpeckers, and other creatures as beloved pets

 As a curator of the forest's memories, you have proficiency in the History skill
