Homebrew Astral Species Details
Beings native to the Astral Plane, Astrals are inherently beings of magic. They seek knowledge throughout the multiverse, as well as magical secrets that are usually considered forbidden or esoteric. However, an Astral is not evil, and it will not go to ends that would harm another creature in pursuit of such knowledge; likewise, should it come upon the existence of a secret that is dangerous, it will safeguard the information to prevent destruction.
Astral Traits
As an Astral, you gain the following race features:Ability Score Increase
Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Celestial Nature
As an Astral, you require no food or drink (though you must replenish your stores of magical energy through meditation) and need not sleep (though you must still get 8 hours of uninterrupted rest to complete a Long Rest).
Your creature type is Celestial rather than Humanoid. You are unaffected by effects that only function on humanoids, but you are affected by effects that function on celestials.
Magic Resistance
You have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Size
An Astral has a somewhat fluid form, but it generally is never much larger in size than a human. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your speed is 30 feet. In addition, you are capable of telekinetic flight, granting you a fly speed of 50 feet (hover).
Age
Astrals do not age.
Arcane Sight
You have Darkvision out to 60 feet.
In addition, you can spend 1 minute examining an object, creature, or location in order to discern any magical auras about it, as if by a Detect Magic spell, except the effect's duration is instantaneous, and you need not concentrate on it except during the examination. You learn the school of magic (if any) of each magical aura affecting the target, as well as the relative strength of the aura.
Languages
You speak, read, and write Common, Celestial, and Astral. Astral is a tonal, loosely-ordered language that combines syllabic root words to create its elaborate and highly symbolic dictionary.
