Homebrew Acan Species Details

We're beings of the Astral Sea. A lot of our scholars believe we're descended from humans who have decided to call it their home, while others disagree and say we were created by the Astral Sea itself. The truth is we don't know if either is true. All we know is that we are extensions of the Astral Sea. It is integral to our very being.

Acans hail from the Astral Plane. They revere nature and often keep small agriculture farms as they sail their ships in the Astral Sea. 

With their adaptability offered by their origin of the Astral Sea, Acans are more physically diverse than other common races. There is no typical Acan. An individual can stand from 5 feet to a little over 6 feet tall and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds. Acan skin shades range from nearly black to very pale, and hair colors from black to blond (curly, kinky, or straight); males might sport facial hair that is sparse or thick. 

 Psionic Beings

Acans all have an inherent psionic ability, and all are capable of basic psionic powers. All Acans have the ability to communicate telepathically with others within 30ft of them, and they can use their psionic potential to enhance their physical and mental abilities. 

You can communicate telepathically with creatures within 30ft of you and you have the Wild Talent (UA) feat. 

Acan Names and Everyday Life

Acans live in a pacifistic society as they revere nature. Some choose to live in the Feywilds while others construct ships to sail the Astral Sea, keeping small agriculture farms on these ships to care for. As such, Acans are normally named after plants - particularly flowers.
Typical male Acan names include: Ash, Birch, Bayberry, or Mulberry.
Typical female Acan names include: Acacia, Aloe, Bamboo, or Daffodil. 

Acan Traits

Acans are psychic beings, who are in tune with nature. Your character may be a little different from other Acans, but they will have a strong connection with the earth, and nature.

Ability Score Increase

Your innate psychic ability increases your wisdom by 2, and you have the the Wild Talent (UA) feat which you can use to increase one skill other than wisdom by 1. 

Age

Acans often live around a century.

Alignment

Acans are pacifistic in nature and are often some variation of good, although outliers exist. 

 

Size

Acans vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

 

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

 

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and you can telepathically communicate with others who are within 30ft of you, if you both share a language. You can also speak one extra language of your choice

 

Innate Spellcasting

You know the mage hand cantrip. 
You learn Detect Thoughts at 3rd level. Your spellcasting ability is wisdom for these spells.
