Homebrew Corkin Species Details

Corkin are a race of dog-like beings whose ancestral home hails from the . Living in an enchanted forest with fey folk such as dryads, satyrs, fairies, and others, they are highly attuned to nature and natural magical energies.
Averaging about three feet in height, Corkin walk bipedally unlike common animals, and are fluent in common and sylvan. While male Corkin look similar to the average domestic corgi, they will be extremely offended if they are treated like un-sentient dogs, and female Corkin are much more distinguishable, as instead of the typical pointed canine ears their ears look like butterfly wings.
The Corkin tribes/villages are lead by a council of war chiefs, who meet and hold ceremonies in the capital Corkin village, Momoshire. The spiritual leaders of the Corkin, who the war chiefs defer and draw council from, are the Corrígan. There are only ever three Corrígan at a time—A Maiden, A Mother, and A Matron—and once a Matron passes away, a new Maiden is born and the cycle continues. While the individual Corrígan possess far more advanced magical powers than the average fey, it is together the trio have their truly astonishing potential, including the gift of true prophecy (you can tweak these powers as you see fit to mesh with your world narrative). For centuries outsider kings and chiefs had braved the fey wilds to pilgrimage to the Corrígan, hoping they will use their powers to either predict the outcome of key battles and reigns or bestow unparalleled magical boons. The Corrígan are careful with their powers, though, especially to outsiders, and it is truly a blessed king that earns the good graces of the Corrígan.
Once the wilds’ borders opened to trade and ambassadors from outsiders, some Corkin set out beyond the enchanted forests to explore the world at large and establish outside settlements, sometimes even neighborhoods in prominent cities. They mainly trade natural resources and magics from the fey wilds, and audiences with the Corrígan are highly sought after. While Corkin tend to be reserved upon first meeting outsiders, once befriended they are loyal allies.
