Homebrew Dionaermusci Species Details

 

Created long ago via the runoff energy of a powerful necrotic spell cast in a graveyard bog, the Dionaermusci (otherwise known as Sune’s Corpse Trap or just Corpse Trap) is a race feared by the weak-minded and often disliked or garnering disgust for their acquisition of bodies lain to rest to be used as vessels for themselves. They are among the most charismatic races despite having a plant for a head, solely because of the enchanted nectar they secrete from their trap. Though the weak-minded are more likely to succumb to its allure, even more intellectual creatures have been known to be ever so slightly affected by it.

Similarly to the Firbolg, the Dionaermusci don’t often use names or even refer to themselves. Having no language except for the subtle swaying of leaves and information carried through roots and mycelia, they have no need to denote the individual rather than the collective. Despite all of this, they seem to understand common.

Corpse Crawl

Your body isn’t in the best shape (it is a corpse after all), and your movement speed unfortunately reflects that.

 

Plantspeak

The language of plants is subtle and easily overlooked. Being one yourself, you can understand and speak it.

 

No Mouth

Unfortunately, that big trap isn’t a substitute for a mouth, and your race is incapable of verbal speech. Instead, your race has learned to use body language to communicate with their less green acquaintances. This also means that you can't be affected by poisons that are airborne or must be ingested to take effect.

 

Photosynthesis

The sun is your ally. Most if not all of the energy that fuels your magical existence comes from the sun and its light.

 

Necrotic Sense

Because of the nature of your existence as a necrotic parasite, you can sense necrotic energy.

 

Tremorsense

You have no eyes or ears, and as a result your trigger hairs are finely tuned to pick up on even the slightest vibrations in air, earth, or water. By proxy, you can also make out speech.

 

Alluring Nectar

Your trap secretes a powerful nectar. As a result, any humanoid is at risk of falling under its allure and becoming your next meal.

 

Language Comprehension

The magic that fuels your being makes you more intelligent than most plants, giving you the ability to understand spoken language.
