Homebrew Banished dragon Species Details

To most of the population of the world these are no different than regular dragons, however, banished dragons are of a lineage of cursed dragons. They lack the same longevity or innate strength of their regular kin. They physically mature at a slower rate and dont live for as long as most dragons, leading to them being seen as inferior and results in them often masquerading among adventurers in their early years. 

It is tradition for all dragon wyrmlings to leave and try to build a reputation and earn the right to claim a title. There are many paths to this outcome and none of them are safe. It is rather common for young Banished dragon wyrmlings to take on humanoid forms and attempt to make a name for themselves among adventurers. These individuals are often too young to properly protect or assert themselves as dragons and tend to guard their true nature closely, other brandish their dragon nature proudly and simply use humanoid forms for convenience. 
These individuals are dragons and often have all the arrogance, greed one would expect which can serve to get them into trouble more often than not.
Whilr dragons usually are openly hunted in most of the world they have no special protections and as such are commonly driven away or captured for use of arcane research or simple fear. 

 

Banished dragon Traits

You are a wyrmling seeking your make a name for itself.

Dual forms

You may shift forms a number of time a day equal to your con modifier(at least 1).
Your forms share the same max Hp, ac, and abilities.

Your items remain equipped or are dropped when you change forms. 
Your humanoid form always appears the same and can not be heavily changed beyond hair or eye color.

Your breath weapon, or special movements such as flying,  cannot be used in humanoid form.

Natural armor

Your ac when unarmored is 8+dex+con modifiers.

Breath weapon

Your breath weapon damage die is a d6.

Your breath weapon deals an additional d6 damage at levels 3,9,12,15.

once used it recharges on a 6.

Age

They tend to have slightly  shorter life spans due to their increased activity and involvement in the world with the standard max life span around 700 years.

Ability score Increase

Your Constitution score increase by 2, and your charisma score by 1.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30ft, and your base flying speed in dragon form is 40ft.

Additional movement types such as burrowing or swimming granted by your dragon form are 20ft.

Size

In both of your forms you are considered medium sized.
Average height in humanoid form depends on the humanoid you choose to appear as.
In dragon form, average height is 4-5 feet at the shoulder, and 8-12ft in total length.

Alignment

Banished dragons are normally passionate creatures that dont deviate heavily towards either alignment, most often being heavily neutral and doing whatever they deem necessary.

Languages

You can speak read and write Common and Draconic.
