Homebrew Beasky Species Details
We have seen few Beaskies come through our humble town, normally during the time's of harvest. They seem shy and rather timid creatures that seem to mind their own business and seem scared to interact with others, but they are also very smart. One that I remember in particular without our notice made not only a den but a whole working underground network of distilleries and farm for herself. We only found it all when we went to plant the next harvests crops the little one has long since left with out us knowing it.
Hailing from a strange and distant land, the wandering Beaskies are short a short doglike humanoid race resembling a husky and beagle mix, and are driven by a need to learn and collect interesting artifacts, knowledge, and friends. Lonely travelers, the inquisitive Beaskies rarely stay in one place for long. Their innate nature pushes them to leave no secrets uncovered, and to find new friends to cling to.
Lonesome Wanderers
Most Beaskies remain in their distant homeland, content to dwell in small, tight knit towns. These beaskies hunt for food, craft goods, and largely keep their communities thriving.
However, not all beaskies are lucky enough to have such a life. Some beaskies be it from bad luck or timing are made orphans to wander the cruel world around them to find a place in which they belong. They seek out new friends, artifacts, and lore. Those who survive this period of wandering can usually make for themselves a new home in their elder years to share the stories of the outside world with young-lings born in their new home. In this manner, the beaskies make sure the next generation is not ignorant of the world beyond their home.
Unending Friendship
Beaskies treasure Friendship rather than material things. A chest filled with gold coins might be useful to buy food or a coil of rope, but it’s not intrinsically interesting. In the beaskies eyes, gathering wealth is like packing rations for a long trip. It’s important to survive in the world, but not worth fussing over.
Instead, beaskies value friends and new experiences. Their ears perk up on reuniting with an old friend, and they tease out stories with offers of food, drink, and coin. Beaskies might walk away with empty purses, but they mull over and fret for there friends safety like an overprotective parent.
Although material wealth holds little attraction for the beasky, they have an insatiable desire to find and inspect ancient relics, magical items, and other rare objects. Aside from the power such items might confer, a beasky takes great joy in unraveling the stories behind their creation and the history of their use.
Ever Changing Needs
Wandering Beaskies are needy creatures, trading one obsession or passion for the next as the need arises. A beaskies desire burns bright, but once met it disappears to be replaced with a new obsession. Objects remain intriguing only as long as they still hold secrets.
