Homebrew Chagrian Species Details
Chagrians are a social and cosmopolitan people, living in large underwater cities or in major coastal settlements. Mainly in tropical climates closer to the surface, colonizing archipelagos, large islands, or coral reefs.
The average Chagrian stands taller than a Human with blue skin ranging in tone from light blue to indigo. They are distinguished by two fleshy growths protruding from the sides of their heads, which are called lethorns. As they age, the lethorns thicken. Males also sport two horns growing from the top of their skulls. These are used in underwater duels to attract a mate, and are seen as a sign of the males’ strength and virility. Females lack the superior cranial horns, but have more pronounced and longer posterior head plates. These can reach halfway down their back. Chagrians also have very long black forked tongues.
Because of frequent exposure to Champala’s oceans, Chagrians lose their sense of taste by adulthood. As a result, they regard eating as an unfortunate nuisance rather than something to be looked forward to and enjoyed. As they have little interest in eating, Chagrians consume nutritional substances to replace meals. They carry sensors designed to scan for maximum nutritional value when forced to eat actual food.
