Homebrew Acrazoa Species Details

a rare under water humanoid species, Acrazoa are best identified by their blue skin and long thin tentacles that grow like hair from their heads. their skin is soft to the touch, and they have large black eyes with no pupils. Although their bodies are quite fragile, they have an amazing regenerative ability, and it is unknown if their species can die to normal means. Due to this immortality, the race is ancient beyond comprehension, and the oldest have knowledge beyond that of any other species. despite these incredible abilities Acrazoa tend to be quite passive, content to watch the ages come and go. The creatures also utilize strange powers to capture their prey, those that know of these powers are normally quite uncomfortable around them, as its impossible to know whether what you are feeling is truly your own emotions, or some strange fabrication. Due to their peaceful nature and unmatched wisdom, most cultures are fine with having relations with them despite their alien looks and tendencies. 

Acrazoa Traits

Acrazoa are underwater creatures, and as such can breath water. they also have amazing defenses against death and a special siren like ability. despite their abilities to come back to life, their bodies are vulnerable to damage.

Acrazoa reach maturity in their late teens, no Acrazoa has ever died from old age.

Acrazoa tend to be a passive people, they tends towards true neutrality.

Acrazoa tend to be between 3 and 4 ft tall and have a very thin frame, your size is small.

speed

Acrazoa are slow swimmers, and not well adapted to supporting their weight outside of the water. your speed is 20ft and you have a swim speed of 20ft

you can breath air and water.

Regenerative abilities

An Acrozoa's biology makes them functionally immortal, and even death isn't enough to stop their regenerative abilities.

When you are killed, your regenerative abilities can return you to life. When your character dies, you are instead treated as stabilized. healing from any source other then this trait will not bring you back from this state, but you regain consciousness in 1d4 hours, gaining 1 hit point, as well as regenerating any lost body parts, if your soul is destroyed or otherwise cant return to your body, this effect fails. your regenerative abilities also allow you to heal yourself when under stress, you can use your reaction when taking damage to expend a hit die and heal yourself that amount +your constitution modifier. you also gain the ability to expend hit die to regenerate lost body parts, you can use this whenever you expend hit die to replace the healing effect, as well as at the end of a long rest. in addition, unlike most reactions, you can use this ability even when incapacitated.

Psychic abilities

Acrazoa possess a very weak poison and are slow swimmers. due to this they have evolved siren like psychic abilities, which they normally use to capture prey. You can relay telepathically basic ideas and emotions to creatures within 60ft, you can strengthen this telepathy to make the target feel those emotions, or think of that basic idea. As an action, you can attempt to charm a creature you are communicating too telepathically by passing an intelligence check. This check has a DC equal to the intelligence of the creature. If passed that creature is charmed by you until the end of your next turn. this effect ends early if the charmed creature takes damage from any source. If you fail the wisdom check or the effect ends on a creature, it becomes immune to this ability for 24 hours. The creature is not aware that you charmed it, as the thoughts and feelings it felt are indistinguishable from its own.

Soft bodied

Your body provides little resistance to most weapons, and it is not uncommon for Acrazoa to be cleaved through with a sharp enough blade. when a source deals slashing, bludgeoning, or piercing damage to you, the source can re roll the damage die and use either total.

Ancient beyond comparison

as a race the Acrazoa are ancient beyond comparison, and it is common for them to possess rare and specific knowledge. choose one of the following skills: Arcana, Nature, History, or Religion. you gain proficiency in that chosen skill. if you already have proficiency in that skill due to another source, you instead gain expertise in that skill.

Clumsy

Acrazoa are slow swimmers, and moving on land is of great difficulty to you due to your biology. Due to this dodging can be an impossible feat at times. You have disadvantage on dexterity saving throws.
