Homebrew Vaporeon Species Details

Vaporeons are Pokémon that share physical traits with both aquatic and land animals. A Vaporeon's body is light blue with a dark blue marking around its head and a spiky ridge down its spine. They typically have black eyes and a tiny black nose. They have a white fin encircling their necks and three fins with cream-colored webbing on their heads. One of these fins is on each side of their head similar to ears and one is directly on top of its head similar in appearance to a dorsal fin. Vaporeons have three small toes on each foot and dark blue paw pads. Their split tail fins have been mistaken for those of a mermaid or dolphin's in the past. They can detect moisture with their fins, which vibrate when rain will fall soon.

Their favorite places to congregate are clean freshwater lakes. They have developed gills to become better suited to an aquatic lifestyle, and their cell composition's similarity to water allows them to melt into it. This ability enables Vaporeon to remain camouflaged while swimming and ambush its prey: mainly fish.

They evolve from Eevees who have been imbued with magic of the sea, typically by touching a stone made for that purpose.

Lovers of Water

Most Vaporeons tend to either enjoy or at the very least be very good at swimming due to their natural adaptations, and not needing to fear the risk of drowning. They tend to have a taste for seafood, and will form fishing communities, especially near fresh water. Vaporeons that live near saltwater may possibly encounter Tritons if the circumstances and location are right.

Your constitution score increases by 2, and your charisma or strength score increases by 1

Age

Vaporeons are thought to age at the same rate at Humans, if not slightly quicker. Consult with your DM.

Alignment

Vaporeons have no special tendencies concerning alignment. 

Size

Vaporeons tend to generally stand around 4 to 5 and a half feet tall. Due to their blubber and larger tails, they tend to weigh around 64 pounds. Your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet, and you have a swimming speed of 30 feet.

Amphibious

You can breathe air and water.

Aqueous Body

Your cellular structure is similar to that of water itself and the following apply to you:

• You are resistant to fire damage
• You are resistant to cold damage
• You are resistant to acid damage
• You are resistant to slashing damage from metallic objects and weapons.
• You are vulnerable to lightning damage.
• You have disadvantage on saving throws against plants that are magically created or manipulated to impede movement, such those created by the entangle spell

Liquid Form

As an action, if you are swimming within a body of water, you may meld your body into liquid as camouflage. Your equipment floats with you and remains visible, if any, and you do not have sufficient grip to attack with objects. If you are not wearing, wielding or carrying any items or equipment, you have advantage on dexterity (stealth) checks whilst you are in liquid form.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write common, and one language of your choice. Primordial would be a good choice, or some other language spoken by an aquatic or amphibious race. Another Humanoid language could also be a good choice.
