Homebrew Astralite Species Details

He let me look into his eyes once... I won't speak about what I saw, but I'll never forget the majesty, or the horror, hidden in the depths.

Rumored to be formed from space dust and the light from dying stars, Astralites lead lives with wonder and wisdom overflowing in their words. They wander the world trying to learn and explore so that they may spread the wisdom they gain to all they encounter, whether their peers are interested or not.

A Thirst for Knowledge

Astralites are born with a natural wanderlust, they crave the ability to travel. Their ever present curiosity leads to them rarely settling down, but when they do, it's somewhere with constant change. An Astralite might be comfortable in a big city with constant tourists and merchants, but they couldn't handle the monotony of small town living.

Some Astralites seek magic, some seek technology, some the secrets of the past. Whatever their desire, they typically find themselves in the lives of adventurers, earning gold while satisfying their need to gain new experiences. To an Astralite, the knowledge and experience they can gain from friends is unparalleled, those who choose a life of adventure will almost never travel alone.

Eyes of the Universe

The enchanting eyes of the Astralites are more than just windows into the stars. The eyes allow the Astralites to gain unnatural insight into their surroundings or environments. Many fear the gaze of an Astralite, believing that they can see their deepest secrets and reveal them to the world. Astralites most certainly are not all knowing, but they pick up on things others may miss. One should be careful not to lie around an Astralite, however, one should also never be afraid if they can remain honest.

Some Astralites believe that this universal vision is a curse, pushing them away from the knowledge they could learn from those who fear them. Most, however, consider the sight a blessing, allowing them to learn even that which some may not give up easily.

Head in the Stars

Most people would describe Astralites as distant, spacey, or dissociative. An Astralite is always thinking, which can allow them to get lost in their own minds or forget the world around them. These thought filled stupors can be as little as a few seconds, or go on for several days. Astralites aren't entirely out of it when they stare off into the distance, but they are easily distracted and it becomes difficult to keep their attention.

Physical Appearance

With skin tones ranging from blues and purples to blacks and ash greys, the Astralites can be quite striking to those who haven't seen them before. Their hair is often metallic silvers or golds, and moves as though gravity has little effect on it. The most striking aspect of an Astralite's appearance is far and away their eyes. The eyes of an astralite have no irises or pupils, but look like a swirling sea of galaxies, stars, nebulas, and planets. Mapping the stars in the eyes of Astralites has become a field of study for many interested in the exploration of worlds beyond what is currently know.

Astralite children often choose their own names as they grow, usually adopting names similar to those around them. Some Astralites choose names that they simply find interesting, and some believe that their name ties them to a destiny that they must discover.
