Homebrew Diaboli Species Details

Devilish Descent

Diaboli are derived directly from a love affair between a devil and a Succubs/Incubus. They always have a medium sized humanoid stature, however are granted large feathered wings that sprout from their shoulders, as a result of their fiendish parentage. Diaboli sometimes have large horns, thick tails, spikes, barbs or bony protrusions on their skin, These feature all dependant of exactly which type of devil was their parent: The horns can take any of a variety of shapes: some have curling horns like a ram, others have straight and tall horns like a gazelle’s, and some spiral upward like an antelopes’ horns. The tailed ones have thick tails, four to five feet long, which lash or coil around their legs when they get upset or nervous, and their eyes are solid red, with a yellow pupil. Their skin tones cover the full range of human coloration, but also include various shades of red. Their hair, cascading down to their wings usually dark, from black or brown to dark red, blue, or purple, and is the same colour as the feathers of their wings

Rejected Wanderers

Diaboli are native to the hells, however they are not usually welcome there this is as they are unnatural outcasts who do not fit into the Infernal Order, being the offspring of Succbi/Incubi they are not fully devils and so cannot partake in the Infernal Hierarchy which defines the structure of The Hells. For this reason they are shunned by other true devils and treated poorly within The Hells, however their nature as half-devils means they are free to leave The Hells without overcoming the restraints that other devils must. This means that many of them find themselves leaving their home world behind when they come of age at 16, and travelling to all other different planes of existence. Those who find their way to the material plane are often mistaken as Tieflings, and like them they subsist in small minorities found mostly in the roughest quarters of cities and towns, where they grow up to be charlatans , seductresses, or criminal leaders and many find they have a knack for the darker magics. Sometimes they live among other minority populations in enclaves where they are treated with more respect.

Commonly and purposefully displaced from their homeland, Diaboli know that they have to make their own way in the world and that they have to be strong to survive. They are not quick to trust anyone who claims to be a friend, but when a Diaboli’s companions demonstrate that they trust him or her, the Diaboli learns to extend the same trust to them. And once a Diaboli gives someone loyalty, the Diaboli is a firm friend or ally for life.

Diaboli Traits

Diaboli share certain racial traits as a result of their direct infernal descent.

Devil’s Flight

Due to your lineage, you naturally have large feathered wings that sprout from your shoulder blades during adolescence. These wings allow you to fly around with ease.

Mindful Speech

You can speak telepathically to any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. Your telepathic utterances are in a language you know, and the creature understands you only if it knows that language. Your communication doesn’t give the creature the ability to respond to you telepathically.

Ability Score Increase

Your Intelligence score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2.

Age

Tieflings mature at the same rate as humans but live a few years longer.

Alignment

Tieflings might not have an innate tendency toward evil, but many of them end up there. Evil or not, an independent nature inclines many tieflings toward a chaotic alignment.

Size

Tieflings are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Hellish Resistance

You have resistance to fire damage.

Infernal Legacy

You know the thaumaturgy cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the hellish rebuke spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the darkness spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
