Homebrew Cerahor (Moth Race) Species Details

For centuries, the Cerahor people lived isolated in the grand, unexplored forests of Lunaris Island. Primarily artisans, they are famous for their fantastical silk weavings that often adorn their home. According to legend, their race began when the Moonweaver blessed a single Moth Cocoon to hatch an entire lush island for her worshippers to thrive, free from war and hardships, to become the best artisans the world had ever seen. It isn't until recently that some of the Cerahor have left the security of their island to seek a world outside. 

The Cerahor have a lengthy 5 part life cycle, beginning with an egg that hatches into an infant, with small Antennae, and a thorax near their tailbone. The child ages akin to that of a human child. Around the age of 25-30 years, they go through another cocoon stage, and emerge with a pair of wings, that appear by design of the Cerahor in question. The patterns and colors of their wings is dependent on the will of the Cerahor. Some Cerahor even are known to change biological gender if they so choose at this stage. This transformation is the single most important part of any Cerahor's life, and is greatly celebrated by the community. 

Unlike other humanoid creatures, they are much taller and thinner, with small fragile bones. One of their most famous abilities is their silk weaving, which they begin producing as soon as they hatch. The silk they produce is beautiful, and perfect for weaving tapestries or blankets, but can also be used in combat if the need were to arise.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Dexterity is increased by 1.

Age

Cerahor age much like humans do, though their Caterpillar stage lasts until age 5, transitioning into their youth stage until around age 25, where they become full adults, and gain their wings. 

Cerahor can usually sense when they are nearing time to begin their cocoon, noticeable by a gradual exhaustion. The longer you put yours off, the higher levels of exhaustion you get. 

Size

Cerahor range from 5-8 feet tall. Your size is medium. 

Language

You can speak, read, and write Common, Sylvan and Primordial.

Silken Webs

You can alter the viscosity and adhesiveness of the silk you produce. The threads can very easily be dyed with fabric dyes, and woven together to create tapestries. The overall strength of the silk is not great, but can withstand up to 150 pounds of weight. The amount of silk you can produce is determined by your constitution times two for number of feet.(EX: 12 Constitution can produce 24 ft) Once you have produced up to this number, you must take a long rest before producing any more. 

Moth Antennae

Your Antennae give you advantage on any perception checks that do not involve sight. On top of this, you are sensitive to any changes in the temperature, and you can know the approximate time of day at any given moment.
