Homebrew Blob Friend Species Details
During the creation of the Oblex the Mind Flayers experimented on many of the Underdark's oozy denizens. During these experiments, there were, of course, failed experiments. One of these failed experiments was the Purple Slimoids. The Mind Flayer's goal was to create evil beings driven by the hunger of peoples intellect to serve as scouts for food for the mind flayers, however, when making this race their plans backfired and they created a good race with the ability to touch the thoughts and minds of people, but only to feed off the negative thoughts and emotions people held. This ability also increases the target's mental state in a positive manner. This being the exact opposite of what was sought after, the Mind Flayer's attempted to eliminate the oozes, known as Failed Experiment 42, however, they missed 3. These lucky 3 were able to escape and helped to forge their new race on different planes, but this race is quite small and rare, as the Mind Flayers seek to destroy them.
Though they are being hunted, they have developed ways to camouflage themselves once they are of age. By touching or holding someone, they can read and search their memories, experiencing what the other creature as seen or felt like. With help from an artist, they can develop their own unique face and form to fit into society. The only distinction at that point is their speed and the sweet smell they always seem to have.

Blob Friends reach maturity at 5 years of age. Their maximum lifespans are unknown.
Ability Score Increase
Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Alignment
Blob Friends tend towards the Neutral Good alignment, though it can vary based on how they are raised.
Size
Your size is medium.
Speed
Your base movement speed is 20ft as you slide along.
Blindsight
Blob Friends are blind outside of 60ft and are unable to see color. They are also unbothered by light or darkness. If deafened they cannot sense things moving in the air and they have disadvantage on Perception and Investigation rolls. If completely sensory deprived, like deafened and lifted off the ground via magic, they are essentially blinded and unable to sense what's going on around them.
Languages
You can speak Common and a second language based on where they grew up. You can not read or write any of these languages.
Aromatic Ooze
Blob Friends always have a sweet or savory smell despite their form. The smell is determined by their parent's smell or if raised or procreated by a humanoid, their favorite sweet or savory smell will become the one the Blob Friend will always smell like.
Mental Touch
Blob Friends have the ability to touch the minds of other creatures while in physical contact with them.
While touching another creature, you are able to telepathically communicate with them, so long as the creature is able to understand a language. During this link, you are able to use an action to absorb the negative mental state of the creature leaving them with a positive mental state. The creature can make a Wisdom saving throw to resist this effect, the DC is equal to 8 plus your Constitution modifier plus your proficiency bonus.
While also in this link, if held longer for an hour, you may learn the form of the other being, or a form they have created in their mind for you to learn.
Shapeshifting
As an action, Blob Friends have the ability to shift between their true form and a humanoid form selected from the collection shared with them by those they have had mental contact with. This doesn't alter any of your stats.
Pseudopod
In any form, you are able to exude a pseudopod to deal 1d4 plus strength bludgeoning damage to a creature.
Amorphous
You are able to slip through openings as small as 1 inch wide, speed though is determined by the DM.
Ooze Body
Your creature type is Ooze. You have no need to breathe.
You are resistant to acid damage due to your heritage as an Ooze, but are vulnerable to lightning damage.
