Homebrew Aligotarian Species Details

Physical Description

These beast-like creatures are humanoid alligators, much taller than the average human. They usually grow to around 7' tall, their tallest being 9' tall. Some aligotarians are born with pure white eyes, often regarded as a sign of strength, endurance, and the will to protect amongst other aligotarians. They usually have dark green scales on their back, arms, and tail. Their belly, hands, and lower jaw are covered in white scales. They usually reach adulthood at the age of 25, and become old at 180 years. Healthy aligotarians can live up to 225 years.

History

Born in swamp lands, most of their kind, in the beginning, worshiped the god of their great Nile. After many years of peace within their Nile, humans began to slowly drain their water source, as both the human and aligotarian tribes considered it "sharing" until it became barren. For survival, they were forced to retreat further into the swamps, and lost their homes, as well as the ways of life of when they served their god of the Nile.

Society

They can be strong-willed, loyal, and prideful of their people; they respect those that exude courage and loyalty and don't take to friendship very easily. Since they lost their Nile, they've been wary about "sharing" things.

They usually live in marshes and swamps, sometimes rivers if they are outcasts. They don't like big homes that were inherited as much as they prefer living life through self-achievement. They do, however, have respect for kings.

Due to being aquatic, many aligotarians need to drink lots of water or be able to submerge themselves in water at least once a day. This keeps the aligotarian healthy, and gives them energy.

They have a naturally comedic and talkative nature. Often sharing stories of their battles and achievements that impress them the most, as well as being blunt at the beginning of a conversation, or when they are interrupted.
