Homebrew Cyclops Species Details

In secluded caves among the mountains, or on far-away islands untouched by civilization, dwell the reclusive cyclopes. Few folk can claim to have seen a cyclops, and fewer still can claim friendship with them. Cyclopes live reclusive lives, rarely leaving their secluded homes. They are relatives of giants, yet are smaller and less powerful. Nonetheless, most cyclopes are strong and tough, and are especially perceptive.

Reclusive Survivalists

Every day brings a new challenge to a cyclops. Food and water cannot be taken for granted in their secluded homes, and cyclopes, a naturally reclusive species, often form alliances with other cyclopes to ensure their mutual health and wellbeing. Cyclopes are not naturally part of a tribe or family, and are left to fend for themselves from a young age. Their alliances with other cyclopes are only made out of necessity, and if given the chance and the means to do so, most cyclopes would turn their back on an alliance in an instant.

Individuals Over Community

For cyclopes, community is a strange, alien concept. Due to the rough nature of their secluded environments, most cyclopes believe that you should put yourself before all others. In their minds, working together should only be done out of necessity, and that overall, and allies one makes are liable to backstab them. Many cyclopes are greedy and selfish due to this, putting their own needs and wants before others.

Survival of the Fittest

Among cyclopes, honor is a rare thing. According to their mindset, the strong survive, and the meek die out. They see this as a natural process of evolution, and view it as a waste of time to attempt to support those weaker than themselves. Cyclopes disputing over territory have no concept of an honorable due or the like. Instead, anything is fair game. Backstabbing, slitting the enemy's throat as they sleep, or using a hired assassin to do the job are all possible. The only thing that matters is that someone wins (according to the cyclopes, that is).
