Homebrew Mothfolk Species Details
Moth folk or the “brothers of the aarakocra” as some say, are a secluded race that keep to themselves and are rarely seen by the outside world. The moth folk live in vast underground societies built out of silk, rock and wood. The moth folk are a peaceful race by nature but if provoked will fight back with vicious force. The fighting style of the moth folk is aerial based attacks with spells and arrows being thrown towards an enemy until it is killed or runs away. The moth folk language is a complicated dialect witch is almost impossible to learn with normal herring the moth folk language is a series of low decibel SH, L, and K sounds all linked together with quiet clicks at the end of each sentence, to the untrained ear the sound can only be described as in coherent whispering.
Moth folk characteristics
Moth folk are a humanoid race standing around 4 to 5 feet tall and weighing around 75 to 90 pounds there lightweight body's are ideal for flying they have 4 arms two upper and two lower all arms have “hook like feet” at the end of them which allows them to climb rough surface like the inside of a cave with ease. The moth folk are experts at camouflage, their colors reflect there environment and the backs of their wings have patterns that make them almost indistinguishable from the surfaces of the caves they live in. Most moth folk can only speak Llkllrxzshlkl witch is the moth folk language but some moth folk learn the common language and are usually sent out to complete a task or to negotiate a trade deal with a nearby town usually moth folk trade their silk for other goods and supplies.
Moth folk Quirks
Since moth folk society and lifestyle is so different from common society moth folk have a hard time learning and adapting to the ways of normal life.

- 1 You hate all kinds of artificial light, the only one you appreciate being that of the sun, the moon or the stars.
- 2 Artificial lights charm you as much as the ones of the moon or the stars. You can often be found staring at a torch or a lantern, bewitched.
- 3 Common sleep schedules aren't your thing: you always try to convince your companions to sleep during the day and travel at night.
- 4 You always leave a thin silky string wherever you go.
- 5 When nervous you start fiddling with your antennae.
- 6 You're easily angered when you see someone mistreating any kind of insect.
- 7 When talking, especially when speaking in Llkllrxzshlkl, your second pair of arms expressively gestures on its own. Some of those gestures may be incomprehensible to other people than you though.
- 8 You carry some butterflies or other insects with you, and sometimes chat with them. Other people usually don't notice this, and think you are talking to yourself.
The way of the Silk
Moth folk are able to produce a silky, silvery substance thanks to some glands inside their mouths, which they then weave with great skill and expertise. Moth folk silk, which is both soft and strong and is highly valued among other races, and can fetch a high price at the right merchant.
Mothfolk Traits
Because of the way moth folk have lived for hundreds of years they have developed the following traitsMoth Wings
Your moth wings grant you the ability to jump an extra 15 feet into the air. To be able to do this, you can not be wearing heavy or medium armor. you gain and addition 5 feet at level 2 another 5 feet at level 4 and another 5 feet at level 6 but no more after that and this racial trait dose NOT stack with the jump spell. at level 6 your wings are fully grown and you gain the ability to fly ((DM discretion!!!))
Superior dark vision
Accustomed at having the moon as the only light in your days, you have superior vision in dark and low light conditions. You in dim light as if it was bright light and you can see 100 feet into pitch black darkens
Moth food
Because of your Moth stomach you can fully digest and process clothing and other cloth materials instead of eating food. Every article of clothing eaten counts as 1 day rations and 4 to 5 small sheets of cloth would also count as 1 days rations
Blinding light
Because of your huge moth eyes, Daylight makes it hard for you to see. You make all perception checks at disadvantage and any other check that requires sight is also made at disadvantage while you are in daylight. Additionally you have disadvantage on saving throws agents any spells that create bright light as they are being casted. example fireball, Burning hands,flaming sphere ect.
Silk weaver
The Moth folk have the ability to create silk from glands that are in there mouths during down time you can create and weave small items out of silk such as a winter hat a pair of mittens a small vest a par of socks a small hand bag or sack and up to 15 feet of rope any thing bigger than this might take a couple of days to make (DM discretion)
Moth physique
Moth folk are Varey dexterous being able to scale walls with ease you gain a +1 to your DEX. Moth folk being one with nature are attuned to the magic that flows through it you gain a +2 to your WIS and you automatically know the spell Speak with Animals and can cast it as if it was a can trip. Moth folk by nature are not that strong you have a -2 to your STR.
