Homebrew Christmas Elf Species Details

The North Pole appears to be a barren wasteland on any map and by most Humans brave enough to venture out that direction. However, magic thrives in this area of the world like no other place. Christmas may only come once a year, but for the elves who live and work in Santa’s Village, Christmas is a way of life. While many elves work in the factories or stables or kitchens around the village, there are a few who train every waking hour to protect the village from the other magical and non-magical threats to such a special and sought after location.

Vibrant Expression

A Christmas Elf’s energy and enthusiasm for living shines through every inch of his or her tiny body. Christmas Elves average slightly over 3 feet tall and weight 40-45 pounds. Their childlike faces are usually adorned with broad smiles and their bright eyes shine with excitement. Their skin tones and hair range as much, if not more so, than human beings (who they share this world with).

A Christmas Elf’s personality revolves heavily on just one day a year: December 25th. ALL Christmas Elves live for helping the big guy make and deliver joy all around the world on that one day. Often breaking out in a Christmas Carol or utilizing their Christmas magic to give gifts to each other, a Christmas Elf is rarely seen with anything but a smile on his or her face.

Delighted Dedication

As far as Christmas Elves are concerned, being alive is a wonderful thing, and they squeeze every ounce of enjoyment out of their three to five centuries of life. Humans might wonder about getting bored over the course of such a long life, and the taller elves take plenty of time to savor the beauties of the world in their long years, but Christmas Elves seem to worry that even with all that time, they can’t get in enough of the things they want to do and see.

Christmas Elves often speak as if they can’t get the thoughts out of their heads fast enough. Even as they offer ideas and opinions on a range of subjects, they still manage to listen carefully to others, adding the appropriate exclamations of surprise and appreciation along the way.

Though Christmas Elves love jokes of all kinds, particularly puns and pranks, they’re just as dedicated to the more serious tasks they undertake. Many Christmas Elves are skilled engineers, alchemists, tinkers, and inventors, which certainly help with their talents of making the latest and greatest toys each year. They’re willing to make mistakes and laugh at themselves in the process of perfecting what they do, taking bold (sometimes foolhardy) risks and dreaming large.

Cold Winter Inhabitants

Christmas Elves live strictly in the North Pole, more specifically, in Santa’s Village. While living in Santa’s Village is a pretty sweet deal (who else gets to drink hot chocolate and eat fresh baked cookies anytime they want), it certainly isn’t the safest place on Earth. Once outside of the magical barrier that hides and protects Santa’s Village, the North Pole has more than its fair share of dangers.

But these dangers don’t scare the denizens of Santa’s Village, in fact, many Christmas Elves are known to venture out on their free time to hone their skills in battle (who would’ve thought?) as well as survival.

Christmas Elf Names

Christmas Elves love names that revolve around the Christmas Season. Typically they’re given a name as a child but it almost NEVER sticks. Instead almost every Christmas Elf comes up with their own favorite for themselves. This means a Christmas Elf’s name could change as their tastes and hobbies change.

Example Names:  Co-Co, Ribbons, Jolly, Holly, Tinsel, Mistletoe, Ornament, Peppermint, Espresso, Twinkles, Sparkles, Gingerbread

Rooted at Home

Christmas Elves do not venture out beyond the North Pole. It has nothing to do with lacking the spirit of adventure, but more so due to their dedication to all things Christmas. Because of this, most Christmas Elves are ignorant of human civilization beyond what they learn through the internet, which let’s face it, is flawed.

ALWAYS APPRECIATIVE

It’s rare for a Christmas Elf to be hostile or malicious unless he or she has suffered a grievous injury. Christmas Elves know that most humans don’t share their near obsession of Christmas, but they enjoy anyone’s company just as they enjoy everything else they set out to do.
