Homebrew Vulpelupe Species Details

Physical Description

Vulpelupes are similar to humans in shape and size but tend to have much slimmer builds and appear as anthropomorphic foxes. They have very lush and soft fur, particularly their tails. That fur varies from dark orange to a salt and pepper coat, depending on which region they come from (e.g. those who are from forest regions may have orange or grey fur while those from colder climates may have white fur). Their skull structure reveals lupine teeth and they have fully prehensile hands for using tools.

History

Vulpelupe's have been around since the beginning of the world, but nobody really knows where they came from. Were they the first humanoids? Or did a human make them because he was bored? Nobody knows, only the gods, though it's pretty obvious they weren't the first humans. Most people believe they rose up along the time humans learned to organize in a modern-day manner. The forces of Faerie leaking into Toril probably caused some changes in the local wildlife and, for whatever reason, the wolf decided to lie with the fox. Their offspring eventually evolved to become bipedal and possess prehensile hands, possibly due to breeding with primates.

Society

Vulpelupes have a very pack like society. They tend to keep families close as well as clans. Vulpelupe's usually live in or near small towns or in close-knit communities, typically near the wilderness. They love and care for people in their families or clans. Whenever they commit crimes in the clan, they are branded and casted out from their clan with great sorrow. In vulpelupe society, the males travel more than the females, mainly to patrol and protect their clan. For females, they stay with the cubs but have been known to venture out into the world, seeking new opportunities outside the tribe.

Vulpelupe male names sometimes take after features of strength, like saber-like teeth. Female names are much less showy.
