Homebrew Buamathi Species Details

Their origins are officially forgotten as they've been around long before written histories.  Their personal legend claims that when humanoids were still young the world was overbalanced in favor of predators.  An ancient deity gave one group of peoples attributes of wolves so that they may hunt the hunters.  Through their prowess, they were able to restore the delicate balance.

Generally speaking, the Buamathi are a good-natured people.  They are wary of strangers, but once they arrive at friendship, they remain fiercely loyal.  Consequently, if trust is broken or they are harmed, they do not forgive.  There is a saying, "Befriend a Buamathi, have an ally for life.  Scorn a Buamathi, scorn his pack."

The Buamathi can be found throughout the western continent of Torgath, however the majority live on the southern plains of the Principality of Shalemoria.  They are not nomadic, but rather live in small villages scattered about the plains.  They are great hunters, and generally trade meats and pelts with other races and communities.  While they do not shun magic, they are also not practitioners of it, with the exception of the occasional shaman.  The majority of the adults tend to be hunters, specializing in javelins, spears, bows, and bladed weapons normally no larger than a short sword.

Buamathi Traits

Buamathi were created with the hunting characteristics of wolves many eons ago, however, they have evolved into various clans, similar to breeds, over time.

Ability Score Increase

Buamathi are known for the agility, speed, survival and hunting skills.  This gives them a +1 bonus to Dexterity and a +2 bonus to Wisdom.

Age

Buamathi mature faster than most other humanoid races, reaching maturity at 12 years.  They have an average lifespan of 60 years, though it isn't unheard of for some to get as old as 70 due to the caring for the elderly in their culture.

Alignment

Buamathi are fiercely loyal and can be stubbornly unforgiving when harmed.  As such, they tend toward lawful alignments, with the majority being of lawful good alignment.

Size

Buamathi have the same height variants of humans, as well as sharing their weight characteristics.
